The C6 still looks awesome, it didn't get ugly overnight.
"Dated" is their way of saying they are ready to look at something new for a while. Free advice - never tell your wife/GF she looks dated. Ever.

Since when did skinny hit the bad list? As far as I am concerned, the C6 is one of their greatest corvette lines to date. I wouldn't trade my C6 in for a C7 any day. If I were to get another vette, it would be another C6 all the way!

Hell, I still think a nice clean C5 looks awesome. I was really starting to like the looks of C7 until I saw some of the production vehicle pics on the street with the smaller tires and bigger wheels gaps.

I think all genre of vettes look great still, I think the technology is what gets dated and maybe the interiors, but so much after market stuff to easily fix that. The bodies all represent that era and still look great compared to looking at an old Lotus, or Maserati.
Ans as to performance the z06 will toast the new base C7 it weighs 3350 lbs with 55 hp less; and as set up with minimal bolt ons, mine sits at 550 hp and 5.74 lb/hp (3160 lbs/550hp).
The new base model at 3350 lbs (chevrolet specs), means 3350/450 = 7.44 lb/hp.
Hence the C6 Z06 will just show smoke and spinning wheels to the C7 base; and you have 1 to 1.5 years to see what the upscale model or models will be. (2009 Z-06 0 to 60 = 3.6 to 3.7; the new base 3.9 to 4.0?
Oh did I mention that since I got my '09 at $52K with 750 miles (and flawless inside and out) that I could afford to buy a base C7 with the money I'll save over whatever Chevy offers as the C7 Z06-ZR1 variant?
In the end I buy the engine, and take the sheet metal that comes with it, not the other way around.

Technically, it is. The design was originally released in 2005 and the design has been updated internally and externally to the current Grand Sport model (or C6.5). This is not necessarily a negative comment, unless you feel insecure about this designs longevity or what other people think.
Technically, a '63 split window is also "dated" but who wouldn't jump on one of those in a new york minute?
If she makes you happy, don't fret over the guys trying to convince themselves that they need to justify leaving a C6 for a C7. Both are cool.

The C7 looks just like the C6 that went to Pepboys and got some plastic flair added to it!
Those peeps in the C7 forum don't even have C7s anyways... yet..... hahahahaha
No one here in So Cal BMW land probably couldn't even tell the difference between a c6 and a c7 when driving down the street... hahahaa

I agree. The C5 and C6 are both awesome cars based on their technical specs, and will age like a fine wine.
