Navigation Issue
I was told that upgrading to the newest disc "should" solve the problem. I don't mind spending the $400 on it, but only if it fixes the problem.
Anyone else have the same issue and what was the solution?

If you don't have that, remove the disc, clean it and re-insert.
Unless the Disc is bad, a newer disc will not change the GPS signal.
If you are intent on getting a new disc, troll the C6 parts for sale.
They come up all the time for sometimes less than $100.00, in fact I've seen a few given away.
I have a 2006, and have changed discs 3 or 4 times, and there is not many changes from my original version.
Good Luck and keep us posted.
You know you can't go wrong with newer tech, maybe even get wifi.
Dennis told me that the heads up integration was not ready to go in time for the just released 2013 Kenwoods but should be completed and available when the 2014 models come out next year. If that happens then I may switch from the factory nav to a Kenwood.

New disc will only give you new POIs. It won't solve an issue where the GPS isn't working. Even the wrong region will only cause the local streets and alleys to not appear. And a new disc is $200 direct from GM. $400 would be from a middleman.
Thankfully, last night on my way home (an hour drive) and this morning on my way to work (about 45 minutes) the GPS tracked my location perfectly.

There are some things that can affect the satellite signal, and according to the Nav manual, tint, especially on the back window can be one of them. Apparently if you've had tint for awhile and it did not affect it's performance, then it must of been something else affecting the GPS positioning.

It might be nice getting updated map info since I have the original 1.0 version and they're now at version 9.0. Looks like it would cost me $200 for the updated disc, not $400 like they quoted me.

I bought a 2011 and sold my 2010 version for $75.00
Of course some people won't give anyone a deal, so they ask well over $100.00 for them. Not worth anything over $75.00 since the only changes from year to year are more POI's
