I finally got My GPS and RADAR in.
The new GPS is huge Nuvi 2555LMT. The RADAR Detector is perfect so when my wife uses the visor, I can still see the detector.
The green light is the remote for the detector there is a bright RED LED which alerts me when the detector is going off.

The GPS would be too big for my height, blocking too much of my forward view. My V1 is in front of my mirror and just a bit below so I can see the warning arrows etc. My view is unaffected in that position.

A little too busy for my taste. at almost 6'2 I lose a lot of visibility as it is, but hey, it's your car. I think when I DO get a radar detector, I will be doing a custom in-dash install. I'm all about clutter free. Got my Kenwood Excelon GPS head unit with hands free bluetooth capability for nav, radar detector I'm not too worried about... yet.

That is a big Garmin! I agree with prior posts about obstructing visibility. I am 6'3"+ and have limited visibility as is without that big GPS!
My biggest problem is seeing traffic signals when I am first in line at the light. I have to stop so far back to see the light that I sometimes don't trip the magnetic sensors that activate traffic lights. Herniated discs in neck vertabrae make scrunching down to see the signals a problem.

The camera makes the GPS larger than it is. It is only a 5 inch screen.
I have everything in my line of sight so when scanning the mirrors the GPS and Detector are in view.
I would never place a GPS down at the radio level. To many things can happen in that split second when you take your eyes off the road.
I am not a fan of the RD on the dash, or loose cables in the car. I like the dash to look clutter free.
At 5'10" I don't look through the top of the glass.
As for cops pointing at the plate or headlamps, that theory is only good with laser.
If a Cop is shooting LASER at you, no detector in the world is going to give you enough warning to slow down. You are already busted when they squeeze the trigger.
RADAR is radio waves, you will pick them up from every direction.
My Kenwood has built in NAV, but again, you have to take your eyes off of the road to look at the radio.
Safety first...If not for your life maybe consider others. People no longer look both ways at crosswalks.

Nice, but you'd have to be glancing up for the light to alert you.

)? I 'listen' to mine 95% of the time, as there is very little need to spend so much time looking at it that I risk crashing. What are you going to do next, put your AC and radio controls in the windshield, or do you set it and forget it before pulling out of the driveway? Please tell me that you have HUD since you can't risk looking away from the windshield area. Keep in mind that potential car thieves also see all your gadgetry up high, so watch out for that. As for cables...no big deal because it is a use-n-store setup. I remove the radar detector (and cables) when not in use and you will rarely ever see it on my dash. To each his own of course, and you really did a nice job with your setup, but I just personally prefer mine down low as opposed to in my constant field of view in an already low and highly sloped windshield.
