Default Never know!

06C6 Replaced HB at approximately 60K+ miles, discovered by dealer. Had always slight wobble, but dealer felt differently, I went in for another "noise" problem which they did NOT find: loose exhaust clamps from exhaust manifo to pipes - tighten them myself. These clamps had been loose since I bought the car new, dealers have had the car on rack many times and even worked on exhaust system, still didn't find them loose. Another dealer bobo!

Thanks for posting the poll. It looks like the problem isn't as bad as I thought (not to downplay the problem). My 2006 had the problem and I wasn't too happy to see another resent post about a 2012 with the problem.

It got me thinking it's only a matter of time until I take in my 2012. Maybe I will be one of the lucky ones.

When balancers fail on most any vehicle and once in a while they do. Its a separation like the pictures posted. I remember seeing the fiber insert hanging out of balancers 30 plus years ago when I was turning wrenches when I was in college.

Replaced mine @ about 37k with an SLP 10% under driven unit, now at about 67k w/no problems and it spins true as can be.

So we are currently at around 25% fail rate according to the poll, possibly up to 32%, maybe more if people knew what to look for.

I have 29,000 miles on my 05 coupe and the balancer does wobble a bit but im not concerned, especially when it would cost over a $1000 to replace.
I have this opinion on it...RUN IT TILL SHE BLOWS!

Mine was $239 shipped for an SLP unit and $500 labor at a Corvette specialist. Edit: + about $100 for new belts.

Dealers get between $1k and $1400+ for the same piece of crap part and in some cases shady labor
