Default Nightmare?

I guess this first Vette buying experience for me is going south. Looks like the dealer has over promised and under delivered. I was supposed to pick up my car this morning but low and behold they found some issues that needs addressing like a bad pulley, a bad heads up display and a broken visor mirror cover. I am appreciative that they are fixing it but the damn car should never have been offered for sale if it was not fully ready to go. I guess in my haste I should have waited until it was so now I sit here with egg on my face because of it. Its gonna be a long weekend friends.

Look a the bright side, they are making good on it...some of them would have been happy to let you believe it was all good...

Dont get me wrong. I am grateful that they are making good on it. Most dealers may not have. I am just very dissappointed. I was counting on burning through a few tanks of premium this weekend. Not gonna happen Im afraid.

At less than $27K already I guarantee you they are not coming off that price. I also got new tires thrown in.

Don't worry. A month from now, you won't even remember it. Relax and wait. It will pay off. And good luck when you get it......

good news is that its only early march. many of the folks here cant even get to their garage. driving season will be going for a long time from here. they just saved you gas money this weekend, use it to buy some chrome or new floor mats!

just so you don't blame the dealer for sabotaging your negotiated, new tires, make sure to get an all wheel alignment check sooner by some v. good indie shop.

Be happy the problems were discovered and they are making it right. If I were you I would be delighted, really! If they were sleaze-***** they would have reneged on the whole deal. Have a beer and relax.

Guys I am grateful its being fixed. Unlike most of you I am a cop and buying one of these cars is no small task for me. I have been waiting for several days to get it. I just want to drive it and enjoy it and I am simply dissapointed that I cant do that this weekend. This is Texas. Its in the 70's here and the thought of popping off the roof and cruising to the Hill Country is very appealing. I dont get many chances to get away and not getting this car kinda killed my thunder. Make no mistake...I am very happy the dealer is taking care of these issues for me. They want the car to be as right as I want it to.

Basspro - you around Houston? The weather was very nice the last few days, perfect top off weather. But as you know, it has turned a little gloomy today, so maybe that helps relieve a little of the stress for you.

I know the anxiety you have. I found mine at an independent dealer. Picked it up on not-so-sunny saturday, and took it straight to Mac Haik on Monday morning to get them to give it a once over, and tell me what might be wrong with it while i could still take it back. The agony of waiting for them to call back on Tusday was dreadful - but man, the news was perfect, and the feeling that it was truly in as good of shape as I had wanted was a very nice feeling. I bet you will also experience that rush of excitement after this short-term setback.

Good luck, and let us see a pic or two soon.

And btw, thanks for the service as a LEO. It isn't a job I could handle, and i know we sure need all of that we can get!

Thanks AddisonD. I always appreciate those sentiments. It was gloomy today but it was still warm enough to go topless to me. It will probably rain its tail off on Monday. Hopefully not.

I could not imagine the aggravation of this "mixed blessing," officer. When you pull the trigger (pun unintended) on the purchase you want it NOW.
Serenity now!

I don't see why you have "egg on your face" or what the "nightmare" is. It's better the unforeseen problems get fixed before you drive the car off the lot. I can understand your disappointment but come-on...in the grand scheme of things having to wait a weekend or a week isn't a big deal.

I would have told them to let me have it over the weekend and I'd bring it back on Monday for the repairs. But I'd also rather have a dealer step up and fix problems BEFORE I find the problems. You would have been even more disappointed if you had driven her home and then had problems with her when you got there. They you would have been wondering if they had tried to pull one over on you. I know how exciting it is to get the car of your dreams after working hard to get there, a few more days and she'll be yours and you won't be able to stop looking and drooling for many months (or years) to come!
