well thanks to the bracket nicely made by stanger383
swapped a built 04 Z06 Diff with 3.73 Gears into my 2005.
Amazing the night and day difference, but unfortunately the stock run flats cant handle the new gears there far to aggressive and loses traction with even a slightly hard acceleration. Time to upgrade to some better tires then hit the track and see what it can do. IMG_0488 by ASarsano, on Flickr
Glad to see it all bolted up. I was wondering if you had done the install yet...... Did everything bolt in ok? Any issues with the brackets? Glad you running well!!!
no issues got it in on the weekend. took a bit of cutting on the fins i wasn't sure exactly how much so i bolted it up jacked the frame up took a measurement and got the whizz wheel and kept cutting and testing till i had just enough clearance. wanted to leave as much of the fins as posable, for best cooling.
Might play around with some shims coming up, as the aftermarket 3.73 gears make an immense amount of noise. figure if i can shim it right i can quiet it down some so taking a call while driving will be posable if need be. lol
Yes there oiled up with royal purple gear oil. 2 QTs Not a grinding or wearing noise, just a wining which I've hear is common with non stock gears. We're the gears sit a little off from where factory gears ride on the spline

not yet, from what I've researched its just the gear set up which will need to be adjusted or shimmed. Not a big deal at the moment as the noise isn't wearing or doing and damage to any thing. Its just a noise, I've opened the diff up and checked no wearing or damage. so for now I'm leaving it as is. Eventually ill try the shims and if i cant get it where i want it look into having the diff adjusted or rebuilt. I think the biggest reason the diff makes noise is that fact that it was built for a C5Z06 with an aftermarket (upgraded) tranny so the diff was set to that tranny then pulled off and swapped into a c6, quite a change so the set up need adjustment on the backlash ext.
he made me the bolt in one. I chose not to go with the newer c6 diff as then u would need to swap the tranny extension housing as the bolt patterns for the 05 is unique to the 05 only (same bolt pattern as the c5) so it much more involved then just buying the 3 times more expensive diff. that was a major decision factor for me. then the fact that i had a built C5Z diff with aftermarket 3.73 gears laying in the garage I had built for my old C5.
In need of the c6 to c5 diff mount I hear a guy named 383 stranger makes them?
