Default mpg question

we had a 99 m6 that averaged 33.8 hwy & 28 local. well the wife thought she wanted to get into a 4 seater & traded the C5 for a Pontiac G8. well the G8 gets real poor mileage 19.6 local & she is missing our rides in the topless car. so she is thinking real hard about sitting back down in a vette. she truly wants a GS auto with paddle shift. what kind of mileage can we expect? I am looking for true accurate #'s, I do know we will loose a few mpg's being a slush box but mama MUST be happy if shes going to drive Charlotte city traffic every day.

My Z averaged 33mpg on a 500 mile highway drive.

Around town I get low 20s.

In traffic, more like teens.

Depending on your driving habits you can expect anywhere from 26-31ish in pretty much any Vette you get into that has not been tuned or modified in any way.

2007 Base A6

I can always get 26mpg with normal around town driving.
When I get on the highway I can do 30.x.
It averages out at 28.x on my Average Mileage gauge on the dash.

This is 350 highway miles:

I've got a 6-speed, and I typically get around 18 in city, and not much more than 24 on the highway. But I don't baby my car either - I like the fun of spirited drving - not crazy, just some quick starts, etc. The only way I can reach the 26-28 mpg on the highway is if I'm staying the speed limit (something I have a difficult time doing ). The gear ratio changes in the GS will make it hard to reach 30 mpg unless you're staying under the speed limit. I know about 8 guys with a GS, and no one (that isn't lying) says they get close to 30 on the highway. Just being honest.

see that's why I came here to get TRUE answers. the C6 is all new to me, I was unaware that the GS had lower gears than a coupe. she really likes the styling of the GS & Z06 over the coupe, but the noise level in a Z06 was NOT acceptable for either 1 of us & she is dead set on a automatic & I can't really blame her after working 10 hrs & have to drive in city traffic. although I shift 13 gears ALL DAY LONG in city traffic.

My 2013 GS is a DD and the best i have gotten is 18 mpg city and hwy combined. I had a 2011 coupe before and it would average 19 to 20 mpg city and hwy combined. I never take my car on long trips. Not sure what just hwy or just city mpg would be.

I get about 17 to 20 in town and about 29 to 31 highway. It all depends on my mood and how heavy the foot gets

A6 vert 18 to 20 rural city mix 26 highway. Verts are not as slick through the air. I don't drive for fuel economy but also don't drive it hard either. People I know with GS verts get a little less mileage. They are heaver and have a lot more drag on the tires. Most of the numbers above are for coupes and they get better mileage. The strange thing about mileage is my truck and both Vettes all get about the same. And the truck weighs 6000 pounds. The modified motor in it will out run the C5 until it hits top speed. Makes no sense at all. Diesels just use less fuel.

My 2001 i used to get 27-29 highway with longtubes. My 2012 is about 24-25. I just don't believe this 30 mpg unless you are driving like 55-60 mph

My AP6 coupe right now says avg speed 32.4 MPH and avg MPG is 18.8.....I drive strictly city.....HARD driving...never use auto - always paddles. So for the way I drive, nearly 19 MPG CITY driving isn't bad. I picked the car up in Sept with 7K miles on it (2006 C6) it had avg of like 25 MPG.....but I'm pretty sure it was highway driving, when it was driven. I have done nothing but city driving, but wouldn't change it for the world.

Overall average for my C6 coupe is mid 20s, which is about the same as my 5th Gen V6 Camaro. If she is missing the 'Vette, go buy a 'Vette!!

I have a '12 GS A-6 and love it. The mileage isn't a factor, the fun of driving this awesome car is. If you have any desire to do an hpde, the A-6 really shines with paddle shifters and rev matching downshifts. At then end of a 10 - 12 hour day (more the normal these days) in rush-hour traffic, I can just put it in Drive and steer it home for my 20 mile commute. I have 8k miles on it and have been averaging 19mpg combined rush hour freeway/city driving. Not bad at all for a car that will do 180+mph, is great fun to drive on a race track and a very comfortable ride for those extended weekend mini-vacations with my wife. My wife rode in a BMW for two hours while on a company trip and said the Corvette was far more comfortable.
