I kept the 2012 Heritage Edition hash marks off my car for nearly two months before finally deciding to add them. And I'm glad I did. The stripes are much classier than normal vinyl (they even have tiny crossed flags on them) and the Cyber Gray stripes on Blade Silver is a nice look. If we are talking about $30 vinyl stripes, I would leave them off altogether.
NASCAR had nothing to do with them. They were used on the early Corvette's at Le Mans.
I'm well aware they are not a NASCAR thing...was just using NASCAR to paint the picture of why they were traditionally only on one side of the car. I knew it was some old school Corvette Racing thing....forgot it was Le Mans!
As far as I am aware, the original 1963 Grand Sport race cars did not have any hash marks. I have not seen any photos of the five surviving Grand Sports with the hash marks. The 1996 Grand Sport did have left side hash marks added to honor the original Grand Sport Corvettes built in 1963. Maybe some C2 guys or C4 guys could give a more accurate historical perspective. If I had a C6 GS, and I was to put them on my car, then left side would be the tradition. My .02
