I just recently acquired a 2012 Red Grand Sport with out any hash marks on the car, and i'm still on the fence weather I want to add them or not. With that being said I have seen cars with them just on the driver side and with them on both sides. Whats the standard/rule?
personal choice? What is the opinion of the corvette crowd?

FYI: The hash marks were traditionally used to identify driver 1 and driver 2 on a racing team in similar cars. Old school placement would put them on the driver's side only (i.e. think NASCAR left turns, that would put them on the side with the pits).
That being said, it's going to be your decision! When I first selected the Grand Sport, I was all set to get the hash marks....looking forward to it. PM'd a few folks here on the forum and asked them about theirs, looked at hundreds of photos. But somehow in the few weeks between the decision and actually placing the order (waiting for the 2011's), I changed my mind. Now I'm loving my car, sans hash marks.
I would pass. but then I'm thinking of it this way, would you put a pair of dice on your inside rear view mirror? Old school cool...some folks think so.

My apologies to anyone who is offended by the above statement.
There's no right or wrong....if you like the hash marks go for it! Personally, I think they're overused to the point of losing what distinctiveness they once had. If I were to use the hash marks I'd choose an 'unconventional' color and I'd use them only on one corner. It would be boring if we all liked the same things...if you like the hash marks that's what matters most.

NASCAR had nothing to do with them. They were used on the early Corvette's at Le Mans.

Actually, hanging the fussy dice and putting the GS stripes are two totally different items. I agree the dice are a 50's and early 60's thing whereas the GS stripes were an option on the C56 GS's and the previous one were on the '96 GS's, not counting the original racing Corvette's that used them for identification.
