Default Problem with the hatch

Hey guys,

Yesterday I tried opening the hatch with no luck from the key fob or the control in the car. I was able to manage unlocking it manually with the key, it sounds like its closing properly.... Any suggestions why the fob nor the button will open it? Is this something I will have to take her in for? Thanks!!!!!

I would start by checking the fuse. If OK, use a voltmeter to see it you have +12v at the release motor when the button to the left of the steering column is pressed.

Hi Loree

First of all, when looking at your avatar, are those PINK CALIPERS I see!?!?

If so, I kinda like 'em!!

Now, after having been distracted by your avatar, on to your hatch opening problem!

There is a fuse block under the hood, and another one in the passenger footwell.

To access the one in the passenger footwell, pull back the carpet and you'll see something like this - except you won't have the red wire with the splice clip unless you have a Mild-to-Wild switch:

.

.

There are two sub boxes with covers on them - one at the bottom, and one to the right of the main panel. Here's a picture with the covers removed:

I took the picture above several years ago when putting an auto pull down latch in my Z06 (the early Z06 had a manual latch like in the convertible trunk), so you can disregard the text on the picture.

What you're concerned with is under the cover to the right of the main panel. You can see that blue 15 amp fuse that I have circled, and that's the "Release Actuator" fuse.

If there was some intermittent overload of the circuit, that blue 15 amp fuse may have blown, in which case simply replacing it may get everything working again.

If there's a short in the wiring, the fuse would blow again and you'll have to start chasing down a chaffed wire.

If the fuse is good, you could have a loose wire or ground.

Good luck with the problem!!

Bob

Awesome, found it easy... Doesn't look like the fuse has blown, but I'm going to replace it anyhow to be sure. Thanks for the tip. If pictures were easier to post here I'd add some I took for you.

Yes... Pink calipers.... Needed to let people know girls like Vettes too. Only one other small accent in pink to the grand sport logo and I think it looks just nice... Thanks agin for the help!

I have a 2009 coupe that was working fine an all of a sudden I am having the same issue. The trunk will only release with the key. The dash button back deck button, key fob does not open it. I did replace the fuse and it did not help. The trunk closes fine. The electric pull down is working. Did you ever find a solution?

Do a search. The release button switch in the rear can be taken apart and cleaned. There are pictures showing details of the process.

The fob may be a fob battery issue?

Not sure why it's not releasing from the switch on the dash?

Here is one http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...t-working.html.
