I have a 2008 Corvette, when I go into my driveway my front airdam doesn't scrape, but when I exit my driveway my front airdam is dragging, on my 2004 I saw that the centre piece of the dam was on a hinge and the 2008 doesn't have a hinge, can someone confirm if the 04 had a hinge but not the 2008.
Thanks guys
Yes, I understand that, but I don't see the centre piece being hinged like my 04,
It is not hinged. Do you have any ability to angle off the drop? If I come straight out, I drag hard. If I make it a 45 degree drop off, I clear it quite easily.
Is there a difference when the car is cold? It could be that when you return, the car is just slightly higher because the tires are heated. This happens to me in my driveway.

This has been the case in every Vette I've driven...both C5 and C6. If you learn to always pull in/out of the drive at a 45 degree (or more) angle, you will scrape much less severely...if at all. My last driveway was closer to a 70 degree angle exit to keep from scraping.

Same with mine. I put Fangs on to feel better about it if I do scrape the radiator support, but the air dams always scrape backing out. Never on turn in. I can minimize it by an extreme turn out--full lock, when the rear tires are going off. Still a bit of scrape, but after having an '06 for 7 years before getting the '13, no surprise.
Yes, the C5 air dam center portion was hinged and the C6 is not. That being said, the C6 owner's manual clearly states that the air dam will drag and that this is normal. It goes on to state that the air damn is a "wear" item; same as brake pads, belts, clutch, etc., and will eventuallly need replacement as normal routine maintenance.
I might as well post this again since it applies here. You can see why it's louder backing out as opposed to going forward. This is going at a maximum angle.
