Haven't noticed it lately but when I hit it for a couple seconds I smell something, its so faint I cant pinpoint if its rubber or oil but it's something like that.
I had an engine light on and had dealer check it out and they said catalytic converter 985..00 i declined for now.... Can the smell be related to this in other words if I have it replaced it is it possible to get messed up again. Also could dealer be wrong and only an o2 sensor?
Thanks in advance for any insight into this.

My 2011 has some distinct odors when you get on it as well. I searched around a bit, and have come to the conclusion that it's the brand of gas in my case. One of the threads I found suggested that different brands of gas have differing amounts of sulfer content. Whether that's true or not, I have noticed marked differences in the odor based on the gasoline brand. Chevron or Unocal...almost no odor (or at least I stop noticing it), but fill it up at Costco and the smell comes back!
Not that it changes where I buy gas (it's really not that foul either way), but that's been my observation.
I have had three C6s, two coupes and a vert. All three would get that "smell" after jumping on the throttle. It's like exhaust is catching back up or something. I have grown to love it.
For a minute there, I thought this belonged on CFOT.....
But seriously, is it a sulphur smell or hydrocarbon smell? When running at WOT, the engine runs open loop. On a related note, it runs rich and that can result in a different exhaust smell. In fact, that's often how you can tell if someone is trying to race you........until you get in front of them only on a track of course, never on the street)

Go to auto zone have them pull the codes see what they are oh and cat should be covered under seperate warranty like 85000 miles and I forget how many years. Are you mod free and tune free dealer maybe pulling fast one where are you.I see reno go to boardwalk chev or another dealer for another opinion and ask how long converters are warranted for.

I think you are experiencing exactly what raw horsepower smells like. I get the same thing no matter what gas I use and after finding out its pretty normal I kinda like it.

If your profile is correct and you have a 2007 model with < 80,000 miles on it, there is still an emissions warranty on it. 8yr/80k.

The dealer is not playing by the rules.
The car has 85000 on it, they said warranty not tranferable to new owner me.... Bought with 80000 miles. I think the smell is tires now.... Possibly as windows need to be open .... Not thru vents. Hard to imagine rear tire smell migrating to cabin when moving forward unless coming from engine compartment. Car definetly has full power.

Do you have a dry sump model? If so, I had a similar problem that developed on the track. Under WOT I would get a faint oil smell (windows always down). Someone came up to me in the paddock and said you're smoking when you get on it. Turned out to be a small pin hole in the pan gasket, and when I got on it the sump would pressurize the pan and a small stream of oil would squirt out on the headers. It wasn't a big leak because there was never any oil on the garage floor.
