Default Slippery Steering Wheel

After 44k miles, my steering wheel has gotten a little slippery. Is there anything I can put on it (not one of those fuzzy covers) to make it a little less slippery? Thanks.

Wipe it down with a damp cloth to get the dirt off it.

Have you ever cleaned it? Really cleaned it? Try using a non ammonia window or multi purpose cleaner with a rough towel and scrub it. Then wipe it down with a water damped towel and let dry. Hand lotion, sun block, natural oils from our hands, makeup and whatever else we touch also touches the wheel. They need a good cleaning now and then. Same with the seat belt especially where you grab it and pull it down and over.

I'm hugely fond of Lexol. Leaves the wheel soft, smooth, but grippy. Works awesome on pretty much every leather actually.

I installed a 2012 Centennial Suede steering wheel and the grip is so much better. One of the best things I did to my car. I can't stand that cheap, slick leather that came on the C6 steering wheels.

Obviously a good pair of driving gloves is in order! They're all the rage here on the forum

I use a hand sanitizer towelette. The wheel doesn't slide through my hands when making a turn after wiping down. I guess just using alcohol will do the same thing.

It's leather. Clean it with a leather cleaner/conditioner.

I clean the seats and then finish off wiping down the steering wheel.

carefull when you clean it. Stering wheel in my previous 07 was dirty so i decided to give it a good clean. Color came off the leather, it sucked.
It had the spots of missing color...

Yes, do be careful. All 3 of my wheels eventually (or originally when brand new) got slippery. Either use the products made for leather (per Ft MorganAL) or start with a slightly dampish or wetter rough terry towel and really scrub it. You'd be surprised what color of gunk will come off, and NOT the leather color itself. Then follow up w. a conditioner/preservative. On my dd, the wheel looks shiny and smooth like it should slip, but it doesn't. That terry cloth towel cleaning did it just fine.

On my newest wheel, I used Lexol Cleaner twice to clean off the initial "slip" then conditioned it. Now, it feels fine.

After a good cleaning, get some driving gloves. I have used them for years; better grip, no sweat/salt on wheel, etc. Think about it.... have you ever seen a pro driver (racer) drive without them?
