Thanks, I really liked the look of the GS wheels...but there is another forum member with the same setup...after I saw the ZR1 wheels on a DSOM car...It was over.. Shout out for Bob at the House of Chrome for a great deal on the wheels! I used the firehawk wide oval tires and have been pleased with the results....decent traction in rain.

Its just high hear paint...hemi orange. If you prep the right way and then spray it, it will last for years. It actually was a little brighter than the car, but after being on there for a year the brightness has toned down a little.

Let's call it "rust" in the shade!!

Actually, that's one of the features I love the best about the color - how it changes slightly in different lighting conditions:

My wife took those picture during events at Daytona. They were taken from the same place with the same camera.

The top one was last Dec in overcast conditions with ZR1 wheels and PS2 P tires, and the second one in April this year in sunny conditions with Z06 wheels and new PSS tires.

In all lighting you can see the sculpted body lines of the car. With many dark colors you just can't see the sculpted lines in certain light.

Here are a couple pics with shade and sunlight:

With a DSOM car you should have a DSOM helmet:

And an ORANGE driving suit:

IMO, DSOM is about the best color that was available for the C6. I wish it would have been an option on the C5.

A looooong time ago!!

I retired off of CGAS Miami in '87 where I flew the HU-25, but also was qualified in the HH-52 and HH-65.

Here's the HU-25 Guardian (always called the "Falcon" because it's a version of the Falcon 200):

Ha! Shows how knowledgeable your homophobic friend is. "Gay Tweety Bird Yellow" was only available on "Ain't Skeered" 4x4 trucks, Mitsubishi Eclipse, and the Ford Mustang, as any true gearhead knows.

Velocity Yellow, however, is quite a spectacular sight to behold. Orange was definitely on my short list.

True story....I bought a 2005 DSOM convertible, black top, black interior, 6-speed in 2007. Loved it! Traded it in with Hubby's 2008 Z06 last August to get the 2011 Grand Sport Callaway convertible that we now have. That, by the way, is a phenomenal car! We were going to share the Callaway...how foolish was that?!

Long story short, I ended up buying a twin 2005 DSOM, black top, black interior, 6-speed convertible in mid-December (with less than 12k miles). I lasted 3 months! I was so in love with that color, I couldn't live without it. People who know me said I was the only one who thought sharing would work!!

Here we are now...my husband has the Callaway and I am back in a Daytona Sunset Orange convertible. I'm happy!

Elaine

Absolutely the best color ever put on a vette!!! I love the chameleon effect sun to shade, morning to evening. Its a shame that it is no longer offered

I have an 05 dsom and of course really love the color. One thing though, you really need to see one in person freshly detailed. Its awesome. No matter how good the pics of dsom are they just do not do the color justice. It has to be in person and a car someone really takes care of. Check it out!

I'd like to see a C6 DSOM next to a 2015 DSOM. I'm convinced they're the same color.
