Need help with OEM Navigation Position Arrow
Hey. Does anyone know what could be wrong with my system? My 2012 oem navigation position arrow seems to be stuck. The arrow will move as I'm driving such as down the highway and such, but will not change pointing positions as I turn, etc. The arrow is always pointing same way. I have done a re-calibration on the position and direction on the system at least 10 times to no avail. I've also tried to disconnect the battery, but that didn't help either. Could my gps antenna be bad???

If you press the compass icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen it will change that option.
What I mean is that the position arrow should change the direction it is pointing as you are driving and making turns, etc. The arrow does not show any change is direction. For example: It'll show me going straight down a road, then I may a left hand turn onto a perpendicular road the arrow should then change 90° to indicate I have change cars position and direction. The arrow does not do this, but will rather move down the road now sideways.

Like was already stated press the compass button in the upper corner. I think by default it is set to north. It will always point to the north unless you change it.
I've tried this. All that does is now make the arrow stuck pointing North, regardles if the car is drving north or not. The arrow used to change direction, but after a short while stopped. Doesn't matter which slection of the compass button is pressed; the arrow will either always point to the right of the screen or top of the screen.
lol. I understand. I guess maybe I need a video or something to clear this up.
The compass has the two options: 1 - makes the arrow change positon, 2 - makes the map change position while keeping the arrow pointing north.
My nav does neither of these. It does not change map nor arrow position while i'm traveling and turning. The position is stuck.

No, the gps is working fine in the sense that It shows my location and movement along a road just fine. The gps is getting excellent signal. The only problem is there is never a change in the position arrow/map as my car makes directional turns/changes (as stated in post #8)

So are you saying that the road moves as you move along but the arrow doesn't stay on the road?

Sorry for the confusion. I knew a video is best to show what is happening. I will try to be a specific as I can:
I've tried to reload, reset, recalibrate, etc.
The gps location arrow shows what road I am traveling on. The arrow will move (as I drive along) the road. The arrow shows my location on the map.
What the arrow does not do (And it should, because it did this when the system was new):
The arrow will not change the pointing orientation as I change direction (e.i. north, south, east, west). What this means is that the arrow will travel sideways, backwards, etc. all the while pointing north continually. It seems as though the arrow does not know the nose of the car has changed north/south/east/west. Sorta like the car is traveling sideways, backwards and such down the road.
The position of the arrow is stuck in a north position, regardless of cars actual traveling direction. Regardless of changing between the two functions (GPS arrow moving / Map moving) the arrow orientation is STUCK.

I have mine set to always point up regardless of direction of travel. The other choice is to have it point in relation to north. The arrow itself does not move, the road/map moves, so if you make a turn you will see the map move, not the arrow. The only thing I can think of is that you changed the setting from always up to North or vice versa.

I'm pretty sure what he's saying is that the arrow does not ROTATE as it should, such that it continuously points toward the road he's traveling on.
And I have no idea what the problem could be.

OP-
No info in your profile, so please tell us:
Year/miles on your car?
Purchased new? If not, how many years/miles since purchase?
Stock nav?
Nav came with the car, or added later?
Any other mods to the car or sound system that might affect something?
Has the problem always existed, or started recently?
If recent, anything done or happened to the car just before the problem started?
Any other problems with the Nav, now or in the past?
Any problems with Active Handling or other non-related systems?
If you have the Nav in "Heading Up" (sorry, that's an airplane term but I think you know what I mean), the triangle that indicates your position is not supposed to rotate- it always points forward from the car. The map rotates around the triangle.
If you have the Nav in "North Up", which you can set manually or it automatically goes into when you are entering a destination but not yet selected a route, then the triangle SHOULD rotate as you travel in different directions, and yours does not? So as indicated in post #15, the triangle can be traveling sideways or backwards down the road as you drive?
EDIT-
Your posts in another thread indicate that you have a stock nav, but installed after you bought the car. The GPS system must be working correctly or it wouldn't know where you are at all. But I believe the system also needs a heading input from the car so the arrow knows which way to point when you are in "North Up", and it may not be getting that.

It is an option to make the map move or the arrow move on change of direction.
