Default Strange occurrence . . .

Lately whenever I start my 2007 convertible, I get a very brief (1 second or so) blast of radio sound. The radio is not on, and nothing shows on the display. It's just there, then it's gone. The radio functions fine. Any idea what might be causing this?

Well, that's a new one. Never heard of that happening before.

Like almost everything else, it's probably the battery.

Probably George Bush's fault.

Nothing like good advice from my Corvette buddies . . .

And this is nothing like it. Oh, well - it's just a minor, momentary annoyance. NBD.

You're getting wise *** responses, because none of us have a clue. Probably checking the battery under load is the first thing you should do.

If it was any other car in the world, that would be ridiculous advice, but the Corvette seems susceptible to all kinds of weird things, when the battery becomes unstable.

Your not the only one, My 2007 Z06 does it too. I changed the battery tightened all the grounds, checked all the fuses. But just like you said, I get a very brief (1 second or so) blast of radio sound every time I start the car. And that's with the radio off. It's non-nav Bose without Onstar. I just live with it I guess. The Radio plays well all presets work and I can't find anything wrong with the unit.

It could be a leaky flux capacitor.

That would interfere with the internal current limiter in the radio's capacitive bypass circuit, which under certain levels of humidity cause a very brief .3 second burst in the automatic gain control circuit, resulting in a momentary blast of audio.

While this is of no importance in itself, over a period of time, Corvette owners have been known to commit suicide over the stress.

My 2012 with Bose & NAV does the same thing, only my "blast of radio" is not momentary. I always turn my radio off before I shut off the car (old habit). About every fourth or fifth time I start the car up, the radio comes on blasting. The radio then will not respond to my adjustments for several seconds until finally I can turn the radio down or off.

Coincidently, I am bringing the car in for an oil change tomorrow morning. While there, I am going to ask the service manager to check out the problem. I'll get back to you all with what I find out...

I have an 07 a get a brief blip, no radio sound more of a feedback or static, once in a while.

Next time you start your car try this. Put your seatbelt on before starting it and see if it does it.

I recall reading a post last year about this and it seemed to fix it. Post back and let us know if it did.

I've been watching you Hameister. I might have to come down to Margaritaville to see you. Or maybe Wellyville.

Skynet a.k.a. OnStar has taken control of your car and it has become self aware. Next you'll see "service active handling" right before your car declares war on the human race and tries to terminate you by putting you into a guardrail. It happens. No big deal.
