I seriously doubt a novice with a stick is going anywhere under 12. More like mid to high 12's. The 60' with a manual requires skill and knowing your car...plus lots of track time.
Dropping air pressure means squat with stock tires...dream on! Headers and a tune...= what? Also, the tune means little with a manual....
I'm sorry, I flubbed up, I don't. The dyno numbers were 438/433. Whoops. Those were figures I had in my head for approximate flywheel numbers based on a 12% drivetrain loss.
...Your revised hp numbers can achieve low 12's with proper tires and perfect launching techniques - that's considering you're excellent with the transmission. While the Michelin tires tend to hook up better than most, you'd be a LOT better off with drag radials! I agree you don't need to lower the air pressure in your (street) tires, nor do you need to do a burnout before the run (street tires). ps - go on a cool day and read up on the drag racing section of this forum.
I thought I'd be faster than I was, especially with the extra power of my headers.
I'm sure I left plenty on the table. It's no cake walk.
My best pass felt pretty good so I'm not sure where the rest of my speed was.. though.
Overheard conversations of some regulars suggested it wasn't a very fast night for the track.
I tried launch control once. Total joke. The car spun the tires off worse than I ever did. I can't stress how worthless it was. Really scratching my head on what a complete engineering belly flop it is.
Get an 18 inch drag radial, it will make a world of a difference. If you can lower your 60 ft to 1.8 or 1.7 you will cut your time down a lot. Keep practicing and you will be good.
best RT .076...............avg. .120 (one red light throw out)
*bext 60 ft. 2.093........avg. 2.156
*best ET 12.618.........avg. 12.75
*best MPH 113.7........avg. 113
* same run
Fun, humbling, addictive. I lowered air pressure only to lessen drivetrain shock, per Ranger.
Thanks for playing, Winner KWC6.

Your comments remind me of a friend who took his Z06 to the track for the first time. He said "This isn't as easy as it looks", after making several passes and still not into the 12's.
It sounds like the track prep was somewhat lacking, since you earlier seemed pretty confident of your launch ability yet never had any 60' times below 2.0. The MPH also seemed a little low, which could have been a higher than normal DA.
Prop open the shroud and keep practicing. With cooler weather and DR's, you should be in the 11's by the end of 2013.
How do you have those numbers on a mustang dyno? I can see dynojet with just headers/tune but not on a mustang dyno. I put down 392/420 on a mustang dyno LS3 with headers+tune only on NPP.
Anyways, glad you had fun I'm going to track mine soon as well and it's a 6spd manual (non-GS). My last track car was an SRT-4 so I'm used to having something that's a pain in the *** to launch. I find playing around on the street RWD and no turbo lag it's much easier to get a consistent launch.
You hit the same numbers a stock LS3 can get and you hit the same 60' I got on 225 street tires on my old SRT-4.

I never trust dyno numbers to do anything beyond tuning what was already existing. I've run 10's on a 411 HP dyno pull.
I've also had 2.1x 60' times with the wife's 4,000# bone stock V-6 Caddy.
Neither dyno numbers or our 60' times mean as much to the OP as more practice and having fun.

agreed!
All I know is I went from 338-->392 (54rwhp) when I got the headers/tune and that meant more to me (comparing old to new numbers) than the numbers themselves. Plus, we're all in this for the fun and that's what matters. Keep at it and have a blast.
11.6 to 11.9 given good 60 foot time. You will drop a half second on the pass just from dropping your 60 foot one quarter of a second. The air sounds right up there and a few low 60's might be the ideal. You are NOT on Drag Radials, right? Another thing...your dyno sounds WAY high given your mod's. On a Mustang dyno no less. You have a ported FAST 102 or is your tune just razor sick? Are those pure or corrected numbers?
