I figured you could "punch it" and as long as you didn't exceed the posted speed limit, you wouldn't be considered speeding. Well, you might not get nailed for speeding, but you could land an aggressive driving, or worse, reckless driving citation.

NC law calls aggressive or reckless driving, one who "Drives carelessly and heedlessly in willful or wanton disregard of the rights or safety of others."

So technically, if you're burning out at the stop light in a mad rush to reach, but not exceed, the speed limit, a LEO could consider that reckless driving.

Like most Vette owners, I have a little bit of gray hair and I drive very responsibly. But I do open 'er up when the safe opportunity presents itself. These cars NEED to get a little bit of 'exercise'.......

Thanks for the replies and I certainly wasn't promoting street racing or reckless driving in my original post. The suggestions for a track day are interesting and I have thoughts of taking my car up to Pocono Motor Speedway on an open track day and pushing it to the limits, either my or the car's limits, whichever comes first. It's on the bucket list...My post really has to with with NEVER flooring it from a dead stop, WOT, pedal-to-the-metal, just mashing it down and holding on for dear life. It just seems like abuse of such a beautiful car although I am encouraged by HOXXOH's comments about 400+ drag passes...something to work on I guess as I approach the Twilight! Thanks again to all...

The track would be the ideal place to open the car up, but it sure is hard to resist putting the pedal down at other times.

If you notice on Ocean Parkway there are white lines painted across the road. Those are so helicopters can time your speed. How do I know this?...Yep I got pulled over by a helicopter and was told to wait for a police car to come!

So lets get this straight.....You've lived eaten and slept with her for three years, and she's done everything but paid you to take her including verbally offer to do ANYHTING you want and you roll over and go to sleep EVERY day.....

It's probably because squiggly is broken...

WHAT!!! Three yrs and you've never floored it???
Do you need help??? Well.... One of us does. I can't imagine owning any car and not flooring it.

FWIW, I'm not advocating opening up to top speed. But you can have a little thrill in 4 seconds

Quite a few yrs back I came out of the entrance ramp much much too fast. I saw him when he pulled out about a mile back. I let it coast down and was running 55 when I got pulled over. That was back before the radar was as advanced as it is today so I knew he couldn't have got a read on me. I got a warning and a good lesson. Entrance ramps have big blind spots

I would be surprised if a 0 to speed limit would result in a citation if care was exercised and the car was never allowed to waver. If the car exhibited driver control problems a citation would be warranted. 0 to speed limit can be very fast without spinning tires and rear end wandering.

Meh, on the street if you are not spinning a little you are not giving it enough gas.

I've seen those, I think they're a quarter mile apart, right?

They look like a wall at 180. Or so I've been told.

It's an 05...not like flooring it would have really been earth shattering.

I like to floor it and feel the power, but not from a standing start. I don't even feel the need to do that.

My LS2 is loving this cold air, though. VARRRRROOOOMMM1
