well, i have been locked out 3 times and no start twice "fob not recognized", decided reprogram them, i followed the steps as outlined in this thread, but can t get past step 5, frustrating, i did the key in the back 3 different times, and cannot get the beep or any message on the dic. i guess i will have to take it to the dealer, and he just programed them last week, this is bs. any tips or hints would maybe help me, and try again. battery is fully charged, window down, hatch open, glove box open, what else can one do.
THis thread is your actions for NO Fob Found messages:
Absolutely. And if a fob that was previously recognized now is not recognized, it is rarely if ever a programming issue.
As far as tips and tricks...this thread has pages and pages of them from lots of people:
i changed the battery to start with, that would have nothing to do with getting no signal to the dic. turn the key 5 times within 5 seconds and hear a beep and see the display, i don t get even that, so has nothing to with batteries.
I found my key turns farther than I expected it to.
Could it be you are not turning the key all the way to the stopping point?
tried that.. but have a new link, to make another check on something.
hopefully will have positive feedback this time. and double check on turning the key.
still nothing,, no message in dic and no beeps, after cranking the key 5 times, and when i insert the fob in the glove box slot, nothing happens there either. very frustrating. sometimes it locks me out and sometimes not, sometimes i get in, but won t start, unreal, have to carry two fobs in my pocket all the time.

What if you just carry the second fob and not the first? While unusual, it could be a bad fob. The programming mode is a separate issue and also the most common issue that people have in the procedure. If you have tried all the tips and tricks in those 18 pages of forum posts, then unfortunately the dealer is the next step. Keep in mind that they can do two things. They can use the TECH II and force program fobs, or they can repair the system so that programming can be done the normal way.
In your situation, I doubt that programming will make any difference...if a fob works...ever...then it is already programmed to the car. The problem is a different one.

i assume the dealer created this problem then, i only picked the car cpl weeks ago, and the sales managaer was driving it, i got the car, had to go back cause he forgot to bring in the second fob, the service people had to reprogam them both apparently, and it took over an hour to do it, so it is something they have done. i would also think if it works sometimes it is programmed, but have no idea what the problem is. will have to take it back .. again.
thanks for your help
