This is my first trip with the new corvette and the navigation system. I can only say that this thing rocks! I have used the garmin for a long time and was very familiar with that and somewhat skeptical about using this system. But I can only say that it is awesome. It has many handy features that have been very handy, especially in the larger metro areas. The split screen and the the ability to pick what you want or need at any given time is awsome. I heartily endorse this to all and encourage you to give it a chance.
If you take time to read the manual it has a lot of very useful features. To me handiest is being able to save destinations and waypoints as memory points. It's easy to plug in info for an entire road trip sorted into categories. You can open a saved location without having to be parked.
It definitely is not intuitive and takes more work than a $100 portable. One of the strangest quirks is remembering the last route and saved destinations by the fob. If your copilot starts the car with a different fob it will display complete data--along with that fob's seat, radio and other settings.
The new versions of Apple and Google maps for iPhones/iPads no longer provide choices of multiple routes or allow waypoints. Big step backward.
Looks like the C7 nav will finally be worthy of Corvette!!! Our C6 nav was designed back about 2003-04 or so and shows it.
We have two Garmins, four cellphone navs, and two different "other company" factory navs. We have also been using our C6 nav for 7 yrs/100k+ miles over most of the USA. The factory nav is "as good as the best, and better than the rest", if you take the time to learn it properly.
None of them are perfect, they all have different advantages and disadvantages.

I'm too lazy to play with it. Google maps on my iPhone through the car speakers works fine and I don't have to try and remember how to use it on the few occasions I need it.
I removed my 09 Nav and put in an AppRadio. Now I have google maps and Apple maps, but my favorite is WAZE. Set the destination and I hear and see live updates like accidents, traffic light cameras, police speed traps, cars on side of road. Waze won me over first time I used it.

Waze is awesome. It has saved me tons of time on the roads. It's hands down the best app I've ever put on my Iphone....even better than the Farting app.
