'05 coupe, precision red, all stock, 51k miles, only repair was a new water pump at 48k miles. Hit a deep pot-hole, hard, left front wheel, then left wheel...I mean WHAM, BAM. When I got home, I jacked it up; could see no damage. Now, on the freeway, over 75 or so, my baby starts to sway, back and forth; at times so that it's hard to keep in lane. It's a rocking, swaying motion, but it's pronounced. Think it's, hopefully, just been knocked out of alignment? Any help and/or comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

agree w. boomer. just remember that there are components underneath that could be bent, broken, or even pushed to replacement mode. that's beyond a good alignment. you have an '05 which is now potentially nine years old after it rolled out of the plant. things could be worn from age, if not miles or hard use. good luck and tell us if an alignment fixes everything.

Some auto policies cover pothole damage under the Comprehensive coverage. In addition, if you can document the location of the pothole, some municipalities will cover costs to repair your vehicle caused by road damage. Good luck!

Start by examining the suspension bushings and tie rod ends. Some thing that should be stationary is now moving, causing a rear steer condition. If all that checks out ok move on to the u- joints. Taking a look inside the differential for broken parts could also so be in the equation. Your same question was just asked in this months Vette magazine and this was the answer they gave.

All of that plus check your tire pressures. You never know.

Could be a knot on the tire or a bent rim. GL with repair.

Besides the alignment check the tire(s), wheel(s) and all the steering and suspension components....make sure they're not damaged or loose. A couple years ago I had a upper rear control arm bolt work its way loose. I suspected a problem getting up to speed on a straight-a-way....going into the first corner my suspicion was confirmed. Listen to your car....it's trying to tell you something. Good luck and let us know what you find.
