I don't want to sound like a broken record, but when my column lock was going out my car would only start intermittently. Try turning the steering wheel back and forth to release the lock pin in the steering wheel and see if the car will start then. This worked for awhile on my car before it eventually refused to start altogether. Hope this helps.
2005 M6 could be the steering column lock. Cost me $2500 and 2 weeks at the dealership replacing parts to fix it. There is now a bypass for the whole lock system- available from a forum vendor- do a search on it and hopefully it will save you a lot of money and time if this is the problem.
I have a 2005 Corvette Coupe 6 sp. manual Trans. When I push start button, sometimes it will not crank over. Dealer has changed Switch, electical control module and starter solonoid. Same problem. Has anybody experienced same problem? thanks
If battery is OK, is there any message on the DIC? Mine said "service column lock" Ended up having to bypass the column lock module as replacement is not cheap and not guanteed to last. Corvettes of Houston had a kit. Tony's Corvette in Gaithersburg, MD took care of my problem.

Thanks for the info. Nothing shows up on the DIC. It's a weird problem.
It seems to happening less frequent. Thanks again for your input.

Sounds like you are having the same problem I was. I bought the SCL bypass and have not had a problem since. Before I would have to disconnect the battery for about 30 sec and let the system restart then it would crank but some days I would have to do that every time I needed to crank the car. The bypass cost about 107 shipped but worth it. Super easy to install with youtube vids to help. Below is a link to my thread with the link to the bypass kit. Last time I tried to order it online the site was done might be easier to call one of the locations. Hope this helps
After reading about so many having column lock problems, I bought the bypass unit and installed it in 2012 as a preemptive strike. Haven't had a problem. A pretty straight forward, easy install.
