I have a 2005 Corvette Coupe 6 sp. manual Trans. When I push start button, sometimes it will not crank over. Dealer has changed Switch, electical control module and starter solonoid. Same problem. Has anybody experienced same problem? thanks
I was test driving an 08 Z06 and it did the same thing. All the lights worked and power but no crank. They jumped it and it worked fine. Try the battery first. The other issue is the car need to recognize it is in park. I think there is a small button in the assembly that engages when the shifter is pushed into park. I suppose that could be an issue as well.
I have that happen to with our car if I had the fob in my left pocket. Once I started always carrying it in my right pocket, never a problem. I think they can be very distance sensitive. At least ours seems to be that way.

Should be a "no fob" on the DIC...I have had it happen if the fob is in my pocket against my leg and my cell phone is on top.
I would also check the clutch interlock...make sure the clutch is all the way to the floor (no extra carpet/mat/etc) in between pedal and floor.
Just sayin...
2005 M6 could be the steering column lock. Cost me $2500 and 2 weeks at the dealership replacing parts to fix it. There is now a bypass for the whole lock system- available from a forum vendor- do a search on it and hopefully it will save you a lot of money and time if this is the problem.
Do a search for "DBS".You could be experiencing that,in which case there is a reflash for the car.If it's the original battery that might be the cause.Other then that, when I had my 05 it would clickity click sometimes and I would let it sit for a few seconds, maybe a couple of minutes and then it would start right up.1st year glitches...if you're getting power and it just won't turn over, then it's not DBS. You may need a crank sensor if it is in fact attempting to start but not turning over.

Try it with the fob in the slot in the glove box, buttons pointed toward the passenger side of the car. That might help you tell whether it's the fob sensing antennas in the car. If it starts up that way without any of the symptoms you were describing, it is those antennas.

I tried the glove box. Was not aware of antennas. Thanks

Did use of the box in the glove box make any difference?
I have forgotten how many, but there are several fob-sensing antennas in the car. I think there's one in the door and one in the dash, but I don't remember how many more there are or where they are.

I did try the glove box. It still starts Intermittently. Thanks for your info.
I have seen this with my 05 a few times. I know if I disconnect my battery, wait 10 secs and reconnect, it will always start. Luckily I have not had that issue for awhile.

Thanks Homeboy. I tried that and it did start after. It happens too often to deal with.
Thanks again for your info.

Just bought a 2005 a couple of days ago. Car seemed hard to start.
Read the manual and it mentioned that for a manual trans the gear selector should be in reverse and then depress the clutch and press the push button starter.

I don't want to sound like a broken record, but when my column lock was going out my car would only start intermittently. Try turning the steering wheel back and forth to release the lock pin in the steering wheel and see if the car will start then. This worked for awhile on my car before it eventually refused to start altogether. Hope this helps.
