I am in the market to purchase a used C6. I was looking at a 2007 for about $29k that has 12,000 miles. I like the low mileage but was curious if there could be any mechanical issues with the car because it has obviously sat idle quite a bit. Thought I would throw it out the forum to see if anyone has some feedback/experience with this situation. Thanks, Mark

Now that's looking a gift horse in the mouth, be glad that it only has 12k. miles and the price seems good for what you describe. Buy it before someone else does !

I would not be concerned with that mileage. I would be concerned if it had 3k on it. Even if it did have super low miles as long as it was turned over from time to time and warmed up properly there would be nothing to worry about. This was a weekend car for someone. Could be a good buy.
I wouldn't be too concerned as long as everything else checks out. Have it put on a lift and check for oil leaks especially at the pan and where the trans mates to the diff. Also look at where the axles go into the rear diff. Check to make sure the A/C works well. Sometimes the seals will dry out if it is not used for a long time. If it has a manual trans, make sure it shifts well, yada, yada. You can also give the vin to a Chevy dealer and the can tell you it's GM maintenance history.
If everything checks out and it's what you're looking for as far as options and color... make your best deal and enjoy!

Sounds like the proverbial 'Garage Queen' to me & a great find.
If you're concerned about the car, its past will tell the story.
Go to a GM dealer, ask for a printout vehicle's service history and then buy a CarFax. IF it was troublesome and/or had been wrecked, chances are it's documented.
Good luck, don't wait too long though, Spring approaches.
There're a lot of savvy shoppers searching right now for a great deal on a hardly used garage queen. Come Spring there'll be that many more & this gem will be long gone.
If as mentioned the car checks out, and has the options that you want, go for it. Last year when I got my 06 coupe with only 7400 miles, There was a couple who looked at the car before me and wanted it bad, but held off till the weekend to put a deposit. I bought the car on Friday, picked it up Saturday morning, and that same couple who could of got it before me,if they didnt hedge on the deposit, actually showed up at the dealership, and the guy actually took me aside and offered me $500 cash to back out of the deal. Too late papers were signed, and i would not of done it anyway...So sometimes if as they say, you snooze you lose....
Earlier last year I bought an 08 with 9k miles on it and could not be happier. But ofc op check the vin and see if it was in any accidents and warranty work. But with that kind of mileage I would hurry up and buy.
Last February I bought my 05 with only 8700 miles. All options except selective ride. It now has 29,000 miles only thing I've done is oil change. PO took. Good care of it. Make sure you ch age the coolant after you buy it. Good luck
These cars are the bargain out there. Go check out what '69 Chevelles are going for and a lot of them have either had a lot of body work done or will be needing it. We sold our Chevelles and ended up with a 13K mile '05 and a fair bit of money in the bank. If I were looking for a Corvette today, I would be looking hard for a 2008 with the LS3 engine. On the other hand, the one you are looking at looks like a decent deal.
Sorry I got sidetracked. From everything I've read, I think expecting 100K without many issues is reasonable. Thus 12K sounds quite low, and sounds like you may have found a gem.
I bought my 2007 convert in May 2011 when it was 4 1/2 years old from the original owners with 2,751 miles on it and it has been flawless with no leaks or problems of any kind. The wife was the one that drove it and only drove the car on weekends about 50 miles a month so it didn't sit for very long between uses.
My son is in the car business and it isn't low miles that cause the problem it is cars that are stored for 3-6 months and not driven at all during that time. Those are the cars that they find have by far the most electrical and leaking seals problems. They have a lot of Mercedes owners that spend half the year in Tucson and the summer somewhere else and those are the cars they have the most problems with.

I agree. Just check the car over carefully and if it is OK, see what the best deal would be.
