iPad Mini Mount: Ram Mount
I have one of these in my G8 as well. Can't live without it. I mainly use the ipad for my GoPro App, streaming music(Pandora, Slacker, iTunes radio) and GPS maps.
I recently downloaded a "Garmin Powered" app for my ipad, East Coast States for $29.99. You can download however many states you want and the maps are stored directly to your devices hard drive. As long as you have a ipad with Cellular, which comes with a built in GPS, you can use this App Offline. Meaning, if you are out in the middle of nowhere and you don't have cell service, the App will still give you your current location, just like a portable Garmin would. However, this is significantly cheaper than a Garmin unit and it is faster and more intuitive than the factory Nav with much better maps and screen clarity.
Sorry for the quality of the straight on pictures, the brightness of the ipad was drowning out the interior.
This is basically what the mount looks like, I had already secured the base to the seat rail before I started taking pictures.
Solid Aluminum rod, bends to the shape you want and can be cut to length.
Rod is secured with a hex screw and nut making it easy to remove.
