Default Climate Control Button Replacement?

The black paint on my C6 climate control buttons is beginning to flake off, particularly the fan control. It's slowly turning into a solid white button. Anyone else having this problem? Are the buttons replaceable?

Yes, but after market since I don't think that GM sells the button alone.

Those buttons do not come off. The entire unit has to be replaced. I'm **** and yes, I swapped out the entire unit because one button rubbed off...

Someone on ebay was selling decals to cover the buttons but you could tell they were overlays.

I got some of the ebay overlays. I haven't put them on yet as the car is in storage but I have high hopes as they look pretty decent. Worse case I'll pull the overlays off and paint the buttons black.

Mine look terrible, I am sure the overlays would at least look better.

I'd paint if in your shoes, seems the easiest/least expensive solution.
Light coat of primer & several light coats of black w/should do the trick.
An easy Winter project.

If you paint them or use the overlays, I doubt they will illuminate at night...

The overlays will let the light come through like the original. Paint will not and you will not know what each button does

Anyone know where I can get some of these overlays now? I can't find em on ebay or googling.
Also would like overlays for the interior door release button.

I got the overlays for mine. They look great in the day time. In the night they're only about half good. I found these on EBay from a guy up in Canada. $6.00 delivered to me in Houston. for $6.00 it's worth a try as opposed to changing out the entire unit.

I bought those from ebay too! They look pretty decent, sure they don't look like new, but they look a hulluva lot better than they did before all worn etc. They work pretty good. Don't expect perfection.

In the daytime you can't tell any difference. Looks just like new. At night the light won't shine through exactly like the stock one's. But for $6.00 I'm happy as a clam.

He no longer makes or sell these anymore. I did find a site that deals in control buttons for various vehicle applications from Texas.
I've not seen any of these decals, so I can't comment. The site itself says they are just as like the original look of the buttons, and light shines through the symbols.
His price is a bit more expensive than the one on ebay though.

If anyone tries these, give us a review please.

How about using a paint pen to make the buttons all black, then scraping off a single vertical line on the first button, two lines on the next button, etc.

You'd need to remember what the "code" was, but it could look almost factory.

I bought my current one from Ebay for 100.00 shipped.
There is one out there now for 126.00 OBO +20.00 shipping.
Offer them 100.00? item is 1e937f7dd3

It is plug and play and least time consuming than any other method.
Remember time is not free if you would rather be doing something else.
