2005 Magnetic red Paint?
My 2005 Corvette is magnetic red . It looks like from the original dealer sticker It was a $750 option. Anymore here with magnetic red paint? I love the gold flecks in the paint. Were the other red colors not an extra charge?

The Monterey Red which was not available in the beginning of the 2005 model year was also the additional $750. The Precision Red and Victory red did not carry the additional fee. The Le Mans Blue was also an additional $300 and the Velocity Yellow as well as the Millennium Yellow were also a $750 additional charge.

I love my MR 05 the CRM shade on C6 and now the C7 is also a premium color and they charge @ $800 from what I remember. I also heard that that paint was mixed in Japan ? and when the typhoon hit, many cars deliveries were delayed because of lack of paint ? LM blue and VY were also premium colors if I remember right.

I bought mine used from original owner. Not sure if it was extra charge, but, I love the deep red color
I'm doing a Z06 wide body conversion so that Mag Red is going to pop!

When I bought my new 2005 getting Magnetic Red Metallic II paint was very important to me. Everyone has their own color preference but mag red does it for me. I find mag red is the closest to a candy apple red and it's the most 'chameleon like' Corvette red which can change hues dramatically depending on the ambient light. I have never tired of mag red. Here's an old picture and a more recent one....

Magnetic Red 2
This is mine Magnetic Red 2 it does reflect a different color when the sun hits it , I overheard a woman saying to her husband look at that Maroon Corvette and I laughed as it was mine , it was just the way the sun was hitting it at the time , to the other member wanting to change his rear to wide body keep me posted as I tried to get it done and was not guaranteed the color would match and this was coming from one of the best Vette shop in Central Florida , I decided not to do it and ruin it Good luck

I have magnetic red too. I get lots of compliments on the color. I wanted a Millennium Yellow one, but I couldn't pass mine up. It looks awesome at night when the street lights are on it and during the day. I'm so sick of the "Maroon" comments. It doesn't even look close in my opinion.

Was Magnetic red an option in 2006 as well? I'm looking at photos of an '06 for sale and the red looks different than the other reds that I have seen (yes, candy apple is a good description) but I can't tell if its just the photo or whether there is a real difference in the car.

I think at one time or another someone has said the same thing about pretty much every color. I'm not suggesting that it's not true, just saying that it's by no means unique to Magnetic Red.
