I've got a 2010 GS. I just bought a used set of OEM GS wheels and tires with TPMS. Given that the latest of the 4 tire date codes is 3611, it looks to me like they are from an early 2012 GS.
I know the 2010 TPMS can re-learn without a tool (just change in tire pressure), but that sometime starting in 2011 this changed and a tool is required. The OE 2010 TPMS sensor is a 15268606. I am confused a bout a couple of things - hope someone can clarify....
On a number of parts databases they show the 15268606 as being used for 2010 thru 2013? Does this mean that it is the computer in the car that changes in 2011 requiring a tool to re-learn?
Are the 2012 OE sensors compatible with my 2010 GS?
Thanks guys - would like to avoid re-mounting and swapping sensors.
FWIW, I went to Firestone Saturday with new TPMS sensors and new wheels/tires I bought elsewhere, and the guy came out with a SnapON Sensor tool and taught the new sensors in @ 3 minutes, waved at me and said, "have a good day" and walked off.
Thats awesome cclive - Thanks. Wish I'd found that last night, answers all my questions.
Looks like I CAN use the 2012 TPMS sensors on my 2010, and they MAY be resetable without a tool (depending on part number used). Either way - I don't need to dismount tires and swap sensors over - which is great.
I was fortunate - was able to sync the TMPS sensors from 2012 wheels without visiting a tire shop. Turns out the 2012 wheels had the same TMPS as my 2010 wheels - which trigger reset by change in pressure.
Put the car into learn mode and lowered the air pressure starting with LF. Thought at first I was out of luck, but the horn beeped about a minute after I reduced the tire pressure, did the other three and that was it ...simple. Too bad they replaced that model in later year cars.

How do you "put the car into learn mode?" I've looked all over the manual and can't seem to find that…. I have a 2012 GS
On my 06, you put the car into Accessory mode. Then hold down the Lock and Unlock buttons on your fob and you'll hear the horn beep. The car is now ready to "learn".
