Default Splash guard problem

Trying to install the Apsis splash guards on my G/S, and everytime I tighten the screws the top pulls away from the body, leaving a large gap. Any suggestions. Double sided tape? another screw maybe? Has anyone had this problem?

Tighten the two screws gradually alternating between the two. I did add an extra screw near the top to hold in closer.

I have used 3m automotive double sided tape to attach my aftermarket license plate to the front. It's extremely strong, I bet a strip of that would fix your problem.

Thanks for the input you all, I think I'll start with the 3m tape first then if that doesn't seem to work, I'll screw it. (man that didn't sound right)

I have a set of RPI GS splash guards I might install this weekend. I'm nervous about drilling holes for the top half. I keep picturing myself drilling through the fender.

If it's pulling away it's because you either did not pre-drill a new hole for the screw or the screw is not finding the hole you drilled.

No reason in the world you should have to drill a hole if they're formed correctly and use double sided tape. If the fit is so poor that you need to push them in, drill a hole and ad a screw to hold them into place, I would send them back.

They should fit without any additional attaching if they are made for a specific model car. Is this a common problem with this brand? I was going to look into something for my GS as soon as I got back home from a trip.

Default slow and easy

When I installed mine two years ago they were a little frustrating to get matched to the OEM plastic. After some cussing they fit right where they should. Hold firmly to drill pilot hole. Two years and glad I have them.

Installed mine last year, the passenger side was perfect fit 5 min. job. the drivers side was a PITA !! had to add 2 extra screws & used a hair dryer to soften up in order to make it easier to conform to the fender. They also came with hex head fasteners that I did not like how they looked, so I changed them out for low profile pan head (black) screws..

probably one of the main reasons I opted to go with the invisible mask (plastic)..

One Chevy dealer put them on my ZO6 without any issues and they worked great; and another Chevy dealer put them on my 427 (replaced the ZO6), again without any problems. Both fit perfectly. Very thankful they have been on the cars and they really do an excellent job saving the paint on the bottom of the sides, right up to the back vent.

I had no problems with mine. I only used one screw on top. They are still holding on strong.

Have APSIS on both my C5 (rears) and 427 (front) w/side skirts.

On the C5...had to redrill and add extra screws to get the tight fit w/o a gap.

On the 427...driver side great, passenger side top pulls away slightly. Once it warms up I'm going to put an extra screw at the top, and of course will need to do on both sides to match.

Still love the product, like any aftermarket item fitment issues tend to be a problem for the perfectionist.

Just installed mine yesterday. The most confusing part was the instructions that came with the guards said to re-use the factory screw at the bottom and there seemed to be more screws included than accounted for in the instructions. When attempting to install, the bottom factory screw was too short.

Looking here on the forum I saw that Jersey posted that long screws are now included because people were having problems with the bottom factory screw being too short. That information really should be included on the paper instructions that come with the guards.

However, once that confusion was cleared up the install was fast and easy.

As to your question about the gap on the top-- I had a definite gap there as well. I think that the gap might not have occurred if I had had an assistant (or four hands!) to carefully hold the guard in place while I drilled.

I could be wrong on that, but in my opinion it doesn't matter-- I simply drilled and installed the (included) optional screw near the top of each guard. Not only did it close the gap, but they feel much more secure/solid with the extra attachment.

As far as hitting the fender or something while drilling; you're already drilling the first hole-- drilling the second is really no different. So I see no reason not to install the extra screw.

In the end I'm very happy with the final result. Solidly mounted, very functional, and looks absolutely like a factory install.
