Default C5 or C6

Hi there everybody. I posted this in the C5 section also. I want to get both sides on this one. I sold my 94 6spd last Fall and now it's time to get into a vette again. I know this will get some eye rolls BUT...I need some advice! I'm currently looking at a 2004 Commemorative Zo6 with 27,000 miles (MINT) and a 2005 Base model 6sp C6 also around 27,000 miles. With that said what are some of the opinions on which is a better choice?? I'm not much of a "track guy" but I have and will take whatever I buy on the track every now and then. Thanks in advance for the opinions and expert advice...lol!!!!!!!!

Please do a search, or just page down. There's been like 4 of these in the last 2 days.

I would seriously consider upping your investment a little and finding a nice 2008 C6.

Thats the first year for the LS3, and hp went from 400 to 430,(436 with npp dual mode exhaust option).

The 2008 is sort of a key year in which lots of things were changed for the better.

I picked up a 2008, 3LT optioned C6, A6, 436hp Coupe. Paddle shift, rev matches on downshift. The car is qwik. mid 12's bone stock, high 11 second ets with a cai, headers and a dyno tune,(total for those upgrades=$1,900 approx).

PS. I bought the 2008 in 2012, 34,500 miles on it, got an extended warranty for 6 more years/72,000 miles.

With extended warranty the car was $35,500 in 2012. Im sure they are a few thousand less now 2 years later.

It was the best $36k I have ever spent for a loaded car, (GPS/NAV, Headsup, Heated Seats, Auto Dimming Mirror, Tilt/Telescoping Wheel, Twilight Sentinel, etc., etc.)

Gotta have those heated seat here in southern florida.

2008 forward would be the place to look if you can manage the additional cost.

I've had both a C5 and now a C6, and while I like the way the rear end looks on the 5 better, the C6 is really a lot better car. And I'm sure the C7 is much better than the C6.

So I think I'd go with a C6, and like Steve said, go for at least a 2008 model year.

I owned a highly modded 98 coupe for 15 years, I sold it a year ago, two weeks ago I purchased a used 2012 Centennial edition grand sport, I have to say this, WHAT THE HELL TOOK ME SO LONG TO GET a C6? The stock LS3 is putting out the same RWHP as my modded LS1 (ported heads, cam, LS6 intake, long tube headers) the C6 handles better, rides better, the seats are so much better then my 98 (I have the new for 12 seats) my advice, try to get into a 08 or latter to get the LS 3

Between those 2 cars, the CEZ all the way. The best of the best in 2004. You really feel like your driving a race car. Serious. Buy it

tough choice I just traded my 99 coupe for a 2013 G.S,I really liked the sexy lines of the c5,but when I saw a G.S,and well the price was right……..I agree the c5 has a better looking tail than my G.S.But as others have stated 345hp to 436 stock w/no mods….you get the picture.

Nothing wrong with a 05-07 LS2 specially if you can get it for the right price.

Have to go with the C6, and agree with Steve-O on trying to get a 2008.

Thanks for the input so far everyone!!! The big factor is cost. I've decided I want to stay under 30k. I'm trying to get some of my spending down...lol!!!! I was also thinking an 08 or newer was a better choice in the C6 but.....they aint cheap!!!! Plus I'm sure I'll want to make a couple mods!! The 05 was within $50 of the Z that's why I was thinking about it.

C-6 Technology outshines the C-5. I went through the same process. Started my search last fall with the help of awesome people on this forum. Just purchased a C-6 last month. Road tested both and the C-6 is a much nicer car. Just my opinion, I'm sure your post on the C-5 forum is different. All corvettes are spectacular.

nothing wrong with an 04...Z06(that's as good as the C5 got) if its the right one....(but you will be fixed roof?) however the C6 is an all around better machine.....and You can def find a very nice C6, for well under 30k,,,,, I looked at several recently 2008+ for under 30k...I ended up jacking my budget up because I found a like new 2012 for $35k.....

and it gets great smiles per gallon....

I too was in this situation, I've always loved c5s but I found an absolute steal on a 07 c6 (21k on a loaded and remarkably clean car with 80k or so, 3lt) They are out there. You gotta be patient and I try to buy when its cold.

OP - as b/n a C5 Z or an '05 C6, I'd go with the Z. Now a later year C6 is another matter.
