Ok. Anyone have ANY advice on how the F to get the stupid steering rack back into the holders. The stupid metal c-clips keep sliding off or pulling the bushing out of the rack. Driving me insane the design is horrible

Can't offer advice, but interested in watching your progress. Back in the late 80's I had a 1975 AMC jeep with a 304 CI motor down to the level you had your LS7 down too --- but this is a whole different league more complex in what your doing. Good luck -- looks like you are well on your way.

Honestly it's just a motor like any other motor. There's not much to it like some of these dual overhead cam or variable timing motors. Got the rack in (SOB) and water pump on.

Can't seem to remember how the power steering pump bracket was lined up. I made a post asking if anyone has a schematic of it to help save me some time in the morning.
With a little luck I'll get that on, bolt up the headers, put the alternator on, all the hoses, intake and throttle body, radiator, all connections and sensors.... recheck everything 2-3 times again. Fill with oil and radiator coolant and power steering fluid. Cross fingers and start it up. Getting close. Oh yeah and still gotta do the sway bar reinstall.
Planning an oil change within 100 miles as well. Looking forward to the comlpetion!

Anyone know if it's easier to put the power steering pump in with the alternator bracket attached or after the alternator bracket is on the car? Tight space and no fun!!

Ok. All I need is Vararam on. Engine oil. Coolant. Oh crap..... Steering still gonna drive me nuts to the end. Have to run out and get power steering fluid I don't have any on hand. Figures!

It's running gonna do an oil change after 10 miles tomorrow. Been a hell of a task but definitely worth accomplishing the goal. I'll post a video soon. Pride in the car definitely goes up for me when you build it.
Thanks for all the help and advice guys. Love the forum.

Oh it's running so much smoother at low RPMs. Must have really been effecting how the valves open/close with the bad lifter and cam being so rough. 10 mile drive this morning to get gas and breakfast and had 3 people tell me they love the car. Changing the again oil now to make sure it's good and clean after the 10 mile circulation after assembly.
I'll be listing it for sale probably next week after I drive it a hundred miles or so to make sure it's all good.... Hope it doesn't sell before Celebration Exotics actually.

Ok status update as of 1am - car is FIXED and everything seems to be working perfectly (little oil leak hiccup when I installed the timing cover gasket left/right backwards). Looks like I may make the Daytona run
Gotta second the motion of winjr, great writeup w. pics! Glad it's all together, running and working! I'd say take it slow for awhile just to make sure everything's working, but it really sounds like you got it right. Congrats! (sure you want to sell it after all that work?)

Thanks man. I just drove it 40 miles to a meeting and had 3 people in bumper to bumper traffic roll down their windows to tell me how nice the car looked and sounded love this beast I just want to get ready for the C7 Z now
