A friend of mine has an older muscle car and wanted to race. It was a remote area so I told him I we could go at 20 mph up to the speed limit. I dropped it in first and only put the pedal down halfway and I was pinned to my seat. Got to 70 before I knew it. I told my wife and she said “which of you would have been more embarrassed if you had both gotten a ticket”. She’s right. I would have been really embarrassed so no more of that for me.
I was flipping channels and that Fast and Loud show had an episode full of stupid screw ups in cars. About 10 minutes in was a clip of two vettes racing away from a light. I don't think they went 50 yards and the C5 loses control, over corrects, and drives right into the side of a C6 sending him into a mess of trees. Wonder if it was the same guy.
This happened to me 30 years ago while in a MG. I was going down some back roads, minding my own business and had another car come up on me wanting to play. As we zipped around corners my rear swapped ends and he nearly hit me as he flew by.
The only damage was my pride, and I vowed not to do that again
It's a all too common and a sad commentary when a casual driver associates at point blank two corvettes side by side and determine, in this case correctly, that there is stupidity in the works..
I say learn your frigging car!! THEN play...
Well... I knew there was going to be something to be learned for me somewhere on this forum and I found it! Thank you.
Another collateral reminder for me is that it with also an E-force, would be wise of me to upgrade my z51 brakes...

That happened in The Woodlands north of Houston several years ago.
Some of the responses here are amazing. Should leave your c6 in the garage and take a Camry out instead.

Upgrading your brakes won't make you stop faster.. They will resist brake fade with repeated stopping... Aka track use.
You're gotta be careful about who you play with and where you do it. When there's traffic close enough to cause a "close call", that sounds like a bad idea. Also, this guy sounds like he was an accident waiting to happen.
You can minimize your risk by a lot, but that risk will still always be there.
One run should always be enough. Once one starts pulling, it usually doesn't change. Sounds like this guy wasn't going to stop.
Glad to hear your ok. One thing I have learned after 100k miles or so in C5/C6's, they will get wild on you in a heart beat. My dad had a 680rwhp Nova and that car was more stable than both my vettes when it spun. It stayed straight, even on the street tires. Both my Corvettes have been out there a bit farther than my liking, including one at the track last November.

I saw that same video on youtube. Crazy how fast it happened.
