Two days ago at work, I was sitting in my car talking on my phone before I went into work. A girl gets out of car right next to me, but not before slamming her door into mine. She didn't do any damage, but seriously....know the length of your door.
I had pulled into a spot at a grocery store and saw a young woman in her car. I was about to get out to open the door for my gf when I hear the sound of her door hitting my car.
I went to her door before she got out and asked her politely to at least show some concern for other people's property even if she doesn't care about her own.
There was no damage so my gf and I went and did our shopping. We returned and found a note left by her calling me rude.
I have traded cars in because of door dings. If i know i have to go somewhere and park, i drive a different car. I will not take my vette to any restaurant and go inside. I would be to worried about anything happening to it. Call me **** if you will. People dont care. And even if you park next to a nice car, that doesnt mean they care. Best bet, find another vette to park next to.

Thats seems a seems excessive. I think it would a lot more cost effective to fix the ding.

I just take my corvette out to eat on the weekends or for a drive rarely do I take it to stores etc. Stuff like that has happened to me in the past with my other nicer cars, I resort to wiping boogers under their door handle, hocking a loogy on their door etc.

Some people have no clue.
You're lucky you didn't find your car keyed....
I would have probably told her the same (and maybe not in so eloquent terms as you did) but for sure I would have moved my car faaaaaaaar away from hers after the attempt at reasoning her.....

On Halloween i was at a stop sign and a lady on a cell phone in a SUV was backing toward me. When it looked like she may not stop, I hooked, put in reverse and tried to get away. She stopped after crunching my right front head light. Needless to say I was pissed. She said her reverse warning system did not see my low car. It only cost her insurance company about $1800 and it was not her first claim. She even had two kids in the car.
It's not just corvettes. A few years ago I purchased a nice black jeep and drove my family to a park for the day. Before entering the park we stopped at a local diner for a quick bite. The jeep had only a few hundred miles on it at the time. I remember parking and being a little concerned about the older car that I was next to but I quickly questioned myself thinking I was just being paranoid. After all that car had plenty of room and I was parked squarley in the middle of my spot. Come out 40 minutes later to a huge dent on the driver side door where the older car was parked. Still have the jeep and it reminds me everytime I see that dent how careful you need to be to avoid other inconsiderate or even mailcious people. Sucks but true...
yeah I like the one where hes explaining to his brother in law why he docent have a mahcedes benz! you know he has a tour bus and he's ba#%^g his brother in laws sister in it,
I got a man-sized ding on my passenger side a week or so ago while parked at Applebee's. The spots there are regular size, not too narrow, but they're straight in and not angled. If it was the car that I parked beside when I went in, there was plenty of room. The driver of the other car either intentionally did it, or flung their door open wide and hard. I'd looked at the clearance when I went in and didn't even think the door would reach that far. But it did.
It's the first ding on my 2009 ... had perfect paint. I guess I'll have to look into Dr. Colorchip or something similar.
Personally, I consider door dings as an accident and worthy of a police call, and the person that leaves as a hit and run driver. And that's whether it's a Vette or a Yugo.
I concur, years ago my brother in law was sitting in his new black car and a woman pulled up ,slammed her door into his ,he jumped out and saw a huge ding and called the cops. When they arrived he was going ballistic, they told him to shut up,wouldn't write the woman a ticket or file a report, told him"thats what you have insurance for" and left.I tell you I doubt if I Kicked her mirrors off in the parking lot ,they would have said the same thing!!!!!
I went to night school with a guy that had a big old Ford LTD two door. It had those real long doors. He went to school one night and some guy hustled into the parking lot at school in a Porsche, pulled up, proceeded to get out of his car and bang his door on my friends car, and walked away.
Can you see what's coming here?
My friend said he waited a few minutes for the guy to walk away and proceeded to move over, open the passenger side door, and bang it against the Porsche several times to leave a message.
Hopefully the new '15 Vettes will come with the HoverPark option where they'll stay 6 feet in the air above your spot until you return.
Now you're not being realistic....
I'd be in on this at 12 feet up, anything else would be a joke. They just have to raise their arm up, and can still key your car.
I park out away from people with all my cars not just the vette. Always have to keep my vehicles in as good of condition as possible.
This past Saturday I took the vette to the golf course. Parked out away from people like normal but also not so far as to cause notice. I get done and some jag weed in a prius parked right next to me. 30 empty spots closer and he parks right by me. To top it off I was backed in an end spot hugging the curb. This DB not only parks next to me but way to the side of his stall so he's hugging me.
Same day I'm at a store. Once again I back in an end spot further out and hug the one side. A mustang owner was backing in at the same time about five stalls over from me. Just us two out there and plenty of empty spots closer up. I'm in the store 15 minutes and come out to some piece of junk jeep parked right next to me. I mean really could the guy not have parked between me and the mustang? Or at least park next to the mustang
