Had polished, and no matter how careful I was it was constantly scratching. Switched out every piece of stainless for chrome and never looked back.I'll never waste money on stainless again. Chrome costs a lot more, but well worth it.
Tried the hydrocarbon carbon fiber looking fuel rail covers too, but they bubbled up in the Z motor. So if you're looking into something like that........go with painted.
Not all hydrocarbon is created equal. I have a lifetime warranty on all my products. I suspect that whoever you bought the FRC's from did not sand and prep them properly nor did they use an epoxy plastic primer before applying the automotive primer. Also some companies use a cheap polyester clear that will in fact bubble under the heat. Our clear is PPG UV high heat automotive.
I don't want to offend you, but the ones I had came from Florida. Not saying they were from you because I honestly don't remember who I bought them from. Only that they were a forum vendor on here. It was several years ago on my C5. I'm sure that IF they did come from you, that you've made improvements and perfected the process by now.
Since my little shop has a bead roller,a metal shear, and a bending brake I'll be doing my engine compartment my way. Everything will be in stainless. I did this to my showcar('70 Chevelle SS) a few years back. There will be 3 sheets of 4'x8' Bright Annealed Type 304 non-magnetic stainless delivered Friday. I don't know when I'll get started on it. I'm trying to at least finish one of the two projects that I've been working on for 3 years. Since I retired at lot has been done on both of them. I'm building a Pro-Mod like Henry J for my son and I'm almost finished with the Mercedes Smartcar for my wife. (turbocharged Suzuki 4 cylinder) The only thing I'm doing to the Corvette right now is adding a bunch of brushed aluminum and stainless pieces to the super-bland black interior with DSOM painted pieces here and there. I've already changed all the interior and dash lights to leds. I'm trying to stay busy.
When I did this batch I switched to a high-temp resin and also vacuum bagged the intake cover. I didn't skin the FRCs directly (except the ends and around the oil fill) but skinned some ACC stainless FRC covers.
Between those two, I like the chrome. Easier to keep up. I have done a little of everything. This time I went carbon fiber hydro dipped and painted FRC's.
Man, that is sick!!
Where did you get the airbrushed FRC from?

Thank you! Steve Ray (Airbrush Inc. is his name on here) did them for me. The detail is awesome. It took a bit before I noticed the ghosted skull. I need to get some high quality pictures.

I went back and forth on what to do. I thought about getting a few pieces at a time and finally decided to order everything on cyber Monday. I had already been talking to Steve about the FRC's. I spent a Saturday morning installing everything. Few treaks here and there, but pretty straight forward. Good luck and post when you decide. I like everything that has been posted.
Will do. Will probably have to do the hoodliner first and then the FRCs. Maybe later this summer. Will definitely post pics when the time comes.
Thanks for the info!
