I am looking to dress up the engine bay on my 2012 Grand Sport with a combination of Painted and Chrome / Polished Stainless. Any ideas or preference between Chrome or Polished Stainless. Thanks

Between those two, I like the chrome. Easier to keep up. I have done a little of everything. This time I went carbon fiber hydro dipped and painted FRC's.

Mix it up with chrome as the polished stainless scratches easily but chrome is very hard and will stand the test of time.
No problems with scratching the polished stainless pieces as long as you're careful. I just clean it with a bit of Windex and MF towel. The supercharger and hood fittings are chrome.
Had polished, and no matter how careful I was it was constantly scratching. Switched out every piece of stainless for chrome and never looked back.I'll never waste money on stainless again. Chrome costs a lot more, but well worth it.
Tried the hydrocarbon carbon fiber looking fuel rail covers too, but they bubbled up in the Z motor. So if you're looking into something like that........go with painted.

while I agree chrome looks better an easier to maintain over time chrome tends to flake an peal an once it does theres nothing u can do but replace or rechrome either way more money

Can't agree here. I bought all my chrome from Creative Engine Covers and in 12 years.....not one flake, not one peel. If you buy quality chrome and care for it properly, it will outlast your car.
Wow! they all look so good, it's impossible to pick out which one is the coolest so I vote for all of them. I've got to start getting down to business with mine. Lot's of nice work out there
There are some awesome looking engine compartments in this thread. I would like to upgrade mine also and I'm trying to figure the best place to start. I'm thinking painted fuel rail covers and a chrome phenom cover to start. The first thing I did was to replace all the caps with chrome laser etched caps.

Let me know if I can help you......
Good S/S doesn't scratch that easy.
Be very carefull with items advertized as Chrome. If the chrome isn't Chromium electroplated over metal it will scratch VERY easy. Read the care instructions for the part, if it recommends chrome polish buy it, if it recommends soap and water w/a soft cloth DON"T buy it.
