Default removing seat question

is it complicated to remove passenger seat?
I know it is probably four bolts, but is it safe to disconnect the airbag seats?
should I disconnect the battery?

To play safe I disconnected the battery and waited 15 minutes. Only four nuts (don't lose any, the dealer wants $6 each for replacements) and some wiring. Pull the trim pins forward and slid the trims FORWARD to access the front bolts. Easier to do if the targa/top is off/down and the door is wide open. Use blankets or towels to protect the door and the door jamb from scratches. Not a big deal.

Other than the 4 bolts holding the seat, there is another attaching the seatbelt and an electrical connector at the same location. Then two underseat connectors.

After you remove the push pins on the plastic bolt covers, be sure to slide them forward rather than lift them up. I've had that seat out several times and the driver's seat too and never disconnected the battery. I've never heard of anyone setting off an airbag, but that doesn't mean it never happens.

Go to this write up I did. See Thread #27. Pictures of electronic connectors and hints.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...-season-2.html

It is pretty much straight forward, but the connectors can be a pain in the Arrssss if you can't figure out how to unlock them. That is whaere the pictures help.

I did no disconnect the battery, nor wait 15 minutes, but that sounds like good advice.

You also have to disconnect the seat belt.

Did the seat foam upgrade a few weeks ago and it is much easier to lift the seat out with the top off or down. Three electric connections one at the seat belt and two under the seat. Cover the door sill to protect it.

It's such a pain to remove the top.

After you lift the seat off the studs and lean it toward the console to disconnect the cables, just pick up the base and lift it out the door. The side of the seatback will slide down the console and then down the doorsill. You never have to lift the entire weight of the seat.

Is that because of the airbag connection?

I killed my warranty a couple years ago and avoid dealers too. I'm guessing my p-seat has been out at least 20 times, but not all for racing. It's why I have found the way with the least effort.

I don't have side airbags, so does it still know off of the seat belt sensor?

These seats have no safety devices.

Have you thought about renting a car trailer from U-Haul? it is only $50 for the weekend and then you can put the tires in the truck.
