Dealer is replacing by Nav system in my 2013 3LT GS. They told me it would take 2-3 hours to program. I don't believe this is accurate. For those of you that have had to have your Nav reassigned the VIN, or had a new Nav installed, how long did the programming take?
I have not personally had it done but I've read on here that it takes about 5 minutes with a Tech 2. If its a brand new nav there should be no programming necessary. Whatever they are doing to yours it is warranty work, right?
Brand new Nav should be plug and play for the install.
On a previous installed unit in another car, the Nav unit marries to the vin number of the car on start up, and to un-marry it, you use a Tech II tool to put the Nav unit back into learn more (like it as factory new that has not been marred to a car yet).
As for using a Tech II tool to unmarry the Nav unit if needed, about three mins tops, including taking pepsi break. Then there is just the normal time of the Nav disc doing its thing as it being loaded to load maps for the first time.
As for 2 to 3 hours, sounds about right for total time to check the car in, to change the unit out in the car, put the car back together, then the needed Nav and Tech II remarry if needed, then give a quick cleaning before handing the car back to you.

It takes about three minutes once the tech 2 tool is attached. I have had it done recently.
I agree with EVRose though, a new unit shouldn't have a VIN in it so there should be no need for programming.
Having done a few NAV installs in GM cars like Buicks and a Saturn, the Tech 2 takes about 5 minutes and that is determined by how good the tech is. In one case I had to show a Buick tech how to use it. And he was (as I was told) the "best" guy in the shop (a Buick dealer...)

Is there any additional programming needed to install a newer Nav (09-10 or 11-13) into my 08?
Thanks!
Exact same procedure as detailed by red2012 above for installing a used radio. The year of C6 and radio makes no difference in the programming process.

Ok, I gave these instructions to the dealer to setup the Nav, and it worked, but now my steering wheel buttons do not work. Nav is from a 2007, and my car is a 2008 with factory steering wheel buttons and Bose. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Do the steering wheel buttons light up at night? Anything else not working?
I'm thinking a C6 Corvette US model.
We know that a US radio jump on values of 200 mghz, and that a EU radio jump on values of 500mghz.
Is it possible to convert a US radio in European radio?
If Yes, how?
I need help.

Yes, the radio just needs to be reflashed/reprogrammed to European mode. Not sure if there is a disc form to do this via DVD alone like you did on the 2005 radios to upgrade them that way, but it can be flashed via a Tech 2 with the file downloaded through Gm via TIS2000.
If you can get your hands on a Tech 2, then GM has one day subscriptions that are cheap to allow you to pull down the needed file through them to re-flash the radio (as well as the rest of the car too)..
If you look at the RPO codes for the year of the vet, will see that RPO code number for you country, and the re-flash for the car (including radio) is pretty much that easy.
