I recently replaced my battery which went dead after being in storage over the winter when my charger got unplugged.
I don't know if this problem is related but, lately now my active handling light stays on and i am getting the service warnings on my dash. What is the problem? Is this serious? I have heard that you can pull codes to tell you what is wrong but I dont know how to do that or where I find a list of codes. Trying to avoid taking it to dealer if I can. Help is appreciated.
car is a base 2005 auto.
others will chime in soon, but you can take it to places like Autozone and they can read the codes for you. There are a number of things that can cause the 'active handling alert'. Don't forget to check your manual as it lists the cause of the alerts.
+1 for Autozone reading the codes, and while you're there, have them check your new battery. It wouldn't be the first time a new one was bad.
Do you know if the car has had the TSB(s) performed on it?

Until you can get the car serviced, when you first start it up, turn off AH. This will prevent the car from intervening (sometimes dangerously) when it thinks there's a handling issue it needs to correct.
