Default windshield wiper issues

alright a little background:
the car is an 05 and what happens is when you toggle the switch down it should go through one cycle but my wipers only go for as long as you hold the switch down and they stop wherever they are when you release it.
when you toggle the switch up, the higher you go the faster they should cycle. however, the first speed does nothing, but the second and third speeds do work.

I first replaced the switch that attaches to the steering wheel with no success. Then i replaced the motor & linkage, still no success.
what's next? some kind of computer i assume?
thanks guys!

Here are some checks to do, based on the (2) Electrical wiring diagrams of the wiper/washer system:
The BCM (Body control Module) is found in the top passenger footwell under the carpet.
The BCM has a Htd Seat/Wiper Relay fuse (10A) that goes to the underhood fuse panel (Passenger side) and feeds a coil for the system.

The underhood Fuse Panel has the following:
Wiper Fuse 4 (30A)
Wiper Run/ACC Relay 42
Wiper On/Off Relay 45
Wiper Hi/Lo Relay 41
Wiper Wash Relay 36
W/S Washer Fuse 17 (15A)

The Passenger Footboard Fuse panel has the Following:
Wiper Washer Fuse (10A)
Wiper Dwell Fuse (10A)

Of course, the windshield wiper/wash switch goes through the BCM, then through the relays.

The other possibility is a bad ground.
There are 4 main grounds to the Wiper circuit.
1) On left frame rail
2) On top of Right Frame rail
3) At base of right "A" pillar
4) At base of Left "A" pillar

Good Luck in your search.

I'll add a temporary ground from the motor casing to the block and see if it fixes anything.
Is there a way to see if relays are bad? Fuses are obvious to check, but I've never dealt with a relay.

It takes an ohm meter to test the continuity of the relay pins that control the operation with and without power on the relay.
A good auto shop can do this in a heartbeat, or if your able to test electrical components, then google has lot's of you tube of DIY to test automobile relays.

Good Luck

Tested all 4 relays - all were good.
checked all 4 fuses - all were good.
Added a wire from - terminal on battery to ground from harness, then moved it to a few bolts on the motor itself and could not get the problem corrected.
Next step would be opening up the BCM and checking for a loose soldering point somewhere maybe?

Default Issue Fixed

Hey guys,

I hope this helps someone out there - I fixed this exact issue on my 2005 LT3 C6 by replacing three mini relays in the engine compartment fuse box.

two of the relays are identical parts/part numbers: 15328865
The other relay has a slightly different part number: 15328864

I replaced all three with cheap Amazon knock-offs and all windshield wiper functionality returned!! Once I get the money I'll be replacing them with OEM parts, but for now I'm just glad this fixed it.

NOTE: I've heard even after testing the mini relays and them showing as OKAY that replacing them can clear this issue. Nooooo idea why.

Lots of connections can get oxidation and corrosion. Just unplugging and reconnecting wipes the contacts and reestablishing good connections.
