I just changed out the battery in my 2009, standard transmission, 21,000 miles. After starting the car, the DIC displayed these three messages:
servive tire monitor
service active handling system
service traction control
Is this normal and do I need to take it to a dealer?
First you would want to check if any DTC's are set with a factory level or similar aftermarket scan tool if you have one....you can try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes...if you take it to a dealership expect parts to be changed without much of a diagnosis so expect a big bill....you never want to go to a dealership for any diagnostic work.
Lets play way back machine, with car did not start since battery was about dead, this glitch the hell out of the modules in the car from being under voltages when starter tried to kick in, car was jumped to get it started nex, then battery was replaced but cables either not disconnected long enough to bleed all the current to drain out of all the modules, to leave the modules still low voltage glitch with new battery in play..
Make life simple,
use basic scan tool to delete all the DIC's, disconnect the battery cables from the battery, and touch the two cables together away from the battery few times to completely drain all the modules of current (to do correct hard reset of the modules), then reconnect battery, start the car, re-index the windows, then take car for 10min or longer drive to see what codes do come back (if any).
If you have better scanner that can get down to body level to delete those and the history codes, then use it instead to delete the DIC from the low voltage glitch.
