Default Climate Control Screen Issue

I have an 08 3LT Vert ---- I did a search on this and found a couple of threads but figured it would be helpful to add another for the future when folks search for the same or similar issue.

My issue is different from the threads I read but I am guessing the end result is the same: Unit going bad.

The last 2 times I have started up the car (happened today) the Climate Control Screen is totally blank. No lines, no strange characters, etc..... The first time. I had turned off the car with everything off last time I drove it. Start car, screen blank no buttons work. 5 mins later it starts working.

Second time (today). I had previously had the AC and fan on when I had turned the car off from before. Started car today, AC and Fan were blowing but screen blank. Pushed some buttons no change. Pushed some buttons again and the fan went off. (Thought to myself not a good idea to have pushed buttons since I needed the AC on as I was going to an appt. /palm to forehead.. lol) .. A couple of minutes later everything came on. Whew!!!! Total time from starting car and working 8 mins. After my 40 min appointment was over, got in car and everything still worked.

If it happens again then I guess I take the car to the Dealer to see if the extended warranty will cover it. I'll update this thread if I do have to replace or fix something.

You will.

Seriously, it could continue to act up for a short time or a long time but it will eventually quit completely and most likely at the worst time for you.

Try to drive straight to the dealer when it is acting up so they can see it and verify. Lots of stories here about dealers refusing to fix it if it isn't malfunctioning when they look at it. Good luck.

Smart phone video helps on the intermittent problems. The replacement head is in the four hundreds from GM Parts and dealers charge in the Six Hundred Plus range. BTY Rick T is a guy to listen to.

@Rick and Richard. Thanks for the input. Pretty sure it is going bad as you both alluded to.

Richard, when you say the replacement head are you referring to the actual whole Climate Control unit mounted in the interior console? If that is the case, I am really screwed since I bought a year or so ago a Hydro Carbon unit from a forum vendor and sent the original one back to them for the core credit... F----Me if that is the case.
