Is there any difference in the 427, ZR1 and ZO6 splitter with regard to shape and ground clearance? I believe the ZO6 has a flat underside pan behind the front grill area, but other than that is there a difference?
I'd like to replace my GS excuse for a splitter (front spoiler?) with a ZR1 style splitter but am concerned about ground clearance, especially with my sloping driveway.
Has anyone installed the ZRAL splitter from RPI and if so, do you find it has increased clearance?
I have been thinking about the same thing. I have spoken with RPI and the ZR1 chin splitter brings it down about another inch per RPI. There may be others that don't have quite the same drop but I would suspect ground clearance to be a little less when installed.
2011 GS and HAD a ZR1 style splitter. It was an (easy) inch lower than the GS air dam, plus it sticks out an inch (or more) than the stock piece. I can tell you that a 3-4 inch high piece of wood in the road hit at 65mph makes short work of the splitter!
I have a ZRAL-1 splitter from RPI that is going g on my Z06 next week. I'll be happy to take pics and clearance measurements as soon as the body shop gets done painting and installing it. Supposedly, the cut up in the center actually gives you more ground clearance than OEM Z06 or GS front spoiler.
Thanks -- good info and I'm anxious to hear about the ZRAL's clearance.
Sorry to hear about the ZR1 splitter that took a hit. Sounds like my kind of luck . . . Fifty cent piece of scrap wood KOs a $600 splitter not to mention the time and effort to install and remove it.
I would recommend the Crub Alert!
Window down, I scream the F word when I put the new ZO6 Splitter over the parking stop. Guy next to me on his cell, say’s Oh No, and walks away. http://www.rpidesigns.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=2034
I have the ZRAL splitter from RPI and I scrape more then stock. I can't imagine one without the clearance. If you look you can see where I hit on the inside corners.
The ZRAL has a really nice look. When I first saw the pictures, I wondered if the ends were going to be too low -- sounds like they are. Back to the drawing board.
Maybe I should flatten the damn driveway . . .
Great looking car!

Big question, you using the splitter for show, or for go?
For go, then you want to not only fill the void under the bottom front of the engine bay to prevent air from coming in there, but flairs at the front of the wheel wells to keep air from coming in there too.
Simply, the Vet has lift at speeds, and the go part of a splitter is to prevent lift, hence to cause down force instead (goes hand and hand with a rear spoiler/side panels; to cause equal amounts of down-force at both the front/back of the car .
I have a base C6 with an RPI ZR1 front splitter. Perfect fit, perfect paint match. Going in and out of driveways you have to be careful. I go in on a great angle. And I never, never pull close to curbs. Something you have to be cautious with all of the time. But, it sure makes the C6 look good.
I have a ZRAL splitter on my DD and it is the best thing ever. That middle portion of the splitter has just enough elevation to clear most items on the road ( a road gator or large animal caracass would be an issue due to air flow). My GS is lowered on stock bolts and hasn't had any issues in 2 years of owning it. Just be careful parking with any front splitter you buy.

Thanks and what a great looking car! The carbon fiber really sets it off. I'm reconsidering.

Unfortunately RPI won't make the ZRAL splitter in carbon fiber anymore. I suspect they got heat from Callaway who manufactures one just like it in carbon fiber. I'm on my second carbon fiber ZR1 splitter. The first one was my learning curve splitter. The second one I've (so far fingers crossed, knocking on wood, throwing salt over my shoulder) done much better with. You do have to be careful.
Man I thought I had my mine made up to buy the ZRAL splitter for my 2013 427 but I keep reading that it is an 1" lower than the stock piece. Not sure if this is going to be a problem backing onto my drive curb (albeit it is rather a small curb). Today even with the stock splitter I back into the driveways slightly sideways.
Gotta tell you guys who have then on your Z06's they look GREAT!
The same look I was looking for on mine.

Great pic. I have a torch red GS and I am waiting on delivery of my ZRAL splitter. Can't wait to get it installed.
I have tne C 7 Carbons splitter. ( fibre glass, painted body color ) ZR1 extended front and rear splitters. The front
actually has more clearance than the factory splitter.

When parking with either fibre glass or carbon fibre, forget about pulling in. Back in!! Just too hard to judge. One miss and you have a cracked splitter. Don't ask how I know. lol

I have an OEM splitter off a 60th white 427 on my GS. The midpoint of the splitter has 4-1/4" of ground clearance which is the lowest spot. I don't think the splitter is any lower than the GS OEM chin spoiler. If so, it's not by much.
The issue is it protrudes about 3" at its widest point going around the sides of the bumper over to the wheel wells and about 1" at the midpoint compared to the OEM spoiler which follows the contour of the bumper cover.
You do need to be more cautious of angled driveways, speed bumps, dips in the road and the like when you've spent ~$600 for aftermarket up to $1800 for OEM.
But they look much better than the stock chin spoiler

I've got it installed on my 2007 Z06. I just measured the distance between lowest point and ground. I measure 6.25". I've adjusted my ride height a little. The splitter was not my problem, even though my driveway entrance is pretty steep. The problem for me came after adding the 1" wider ZR1 style side skirts from C7 Carbon. I would high-center when going over the hump in the center of city intersections. Had to raise all 4 corners about 3/4".
