I put my top down for the first time since i picked it up (2007) yesterday and everything went perfectly until the tonneau cover was almost down. I heard a motor still going and there was a 1/2" gap when it stopped coming down. Information center said Tonneau cover not down.
I called the dealer and he said to bring it over and he will take car of it. The question is did i do something wrong?
Thanks
Alan
Yep....another one of the problems I mentioned. Mine does the same thing from time to time. Something to do with the latch that pulls the cover down. I can watch the latch and it will not stay at the top of its travel. It goes down before the tanneau gets there and then it can't latch correctly. Only happens about 3 or 4 times out of 20 that the top is cycled. Ain't gonna take it in until it does it all/most of the time cause you know it won't happen at the dealer.

Your right i will try it once again, what makes me crazy is that i never had a problem with my past 4 vettes. All i did was normal maintenance.
Did the GMVIS report show any prior problems with the power top mechanisms?
I always have the GMVIS, Carfax and Autocheck reports run on every vette I'm considering buying. I had a couple of very nice low mile original owner C6 converts that I was interested in that the owners said that they had not had any ongoing problems when I asked them. When I got the reports on them the one had been in multiple times for the same active handling problem and the second one had been in for ongoing power top problems 4 times during the time he owned the car.
I never trust sellers to tell the truth so I always check everything they tell me and that goes double for dealers salespeople, they will tell you anything that they think you want to hear.
The 2007 I ended up buying that was 4 1/2 years old and had 2,751 miles on it checked out perfect on all reports and now over 3 years later the only thing that I have had to do other than normal maintenance is replace the two trunk gas hold open struts.
I had developed a slight "thump" when the tonneau would tap the base of the glass while coming down (it even has a couple of factory strips there as if they anticipated it). I took it to Titus-Will in Olympia, WA and placed it in the very capable hands of Mark the Mechanic.
He adjusted a couple of screws(?) on the top base near the rear of each door and though it does it once in a while now, it is far better. The latch is a little tougher to lock as well but still quite acceptable.
I just got a C6 Vert with power top. When you raise the top the tonneau top hangs on the window frame as it comes down. Anybody had this problem. It works but makes a horrible noise.
Duckman1187,
Sorry to hear about the top noise. I understand any displeasure this causes you. Although you're seeking thoughts and opinions, if you feel an official GM diagnosis is necessary, I'd be happy to communicate your sentiments with the Customer Experience Managers (CEM) at the GM dealer of your choice. Please know that you're welcome to message us privately if you'd like to proceed (with the above), or discuss this situation further.

Before I got too involved with making adjustments or seeing the dealer, I just tried to bump the seats forward a bit. Worked for me and a year since any issue, so far so good.

OK you talked me into it. I don't have a whole lot of problem with it but my seat is all the way back. For every 25 times I operate the top, it hits 5 times. So, 20% of the time. Funny, it never seems to hurt anything but my feelings. it just doesn't sound right.
