Buying gas today and the gas cap wouldn't lock when I was done. Not the door, but the cap. It would turn and click, but kept falling off. Took at least a dozen tries to get it to hold. Anybody else have that happen? How did you fix it?
I have had the same issue occasionally but so far it has finally clicked into place after a few tries. It's still under warranty for another two years so if it gets worse I will let GM give me a new gas cap.
Mine just started doing that. Had to turn it several times before it locked into place. Car is still under warranty so will have the dealer replace it.
Same problem, went to dealer today and they replaced. Seem to be a few gremlins in these 427s'. Im chasing a clicking in steering when moving back and forth. they already replaced the rack which it fixed for a week. now dealer is checking with GM to see what to do next.
There's a 10 yr -120,000 mile warranty on it just in case since it's been happening since 2005.However,when I thought mine was bad on the '13,I saw the "don't apply pressure" thing and since then it locks in place normally with pushing to hard on it. Give it a shot.I will say that if it's broke, the one they replace it with under warranty will break too...went thru 3 or four on my other vettes.
Thanks for your update! It's great to hear that the dealer addressed your gas cap concerns and now service is complete. Please let us know how the vehicle operates moving forward and don't hesitate to message us if any additional questions or concerns arise.
FYI, the gas cap on the vet is warrantied for 10 years, 120K miles.
If you get any grief from the dealer on a free replacement, have them check # EIO7238 for the replacement cap, which even covers their time changing it out.
Also, if you do need to take the car in to have them replace the gas cap, do a quick recall search on your car encase their is something else the need to deal with while you are there.
My GS13 started having gas cap problems last week. I drove the car and the next time I started it the info "check gas cap" flashed across the screen. I wiggled, pushed, pulled turned and it finally sealed. I guess a trip to the dealer is in order. Good to hear its a fairly common problem.🇺🇸👍🏁💸🇺🇸

Reason: Spell
I had the same problem with my 2012. When I bought the car I had to buy gas to get home after doing all the paperwork at the dealership and it was late and near dark. I went to a gas station near the dealer and I couldn't get the cap to close like my other cars. I had never had a gas cap issue before and I ended up turning it just enough until it made contact and I guess that was ok. I like to feel my cap tighten up, but the Corvette cap won't do it. You have to go easy when it gets tight because if you turn it hard it will come loose.
