I'm not saying to believe this, but consider the following.... Zora pushed heavily for a rear engine Vette, even after he retired. He always lost out to the bean counters. There is a story about him being granted a courtesy meeting with some C5 engineers, and he got pissed when they told him "no rear engine." He supposedly stormed out and said, fine I'll build the damn thing myself! And GM recently trademarked to Zora name. Hmmmm.......
some cars may not be my taste (like the c7..yet) but I won't call them ugly.
actually I think this one looks real sweet, American muscle with mid engine, reminds me on a pantera or mangusta.
and the big black rear panel with the exhaust as pictured works well for me too unlike the c7's rear.
sounds like the idea is a limited run zr1 rather than a c8.
cant afford it but sure like it.
I agree 2017 sounds too soon - especially with C7 demand outstripping supply
Demand outstripping supply??Lmao.. that's hilarious. There's plenty of c7's out there. The car in the article is a 150 grand special Vette and an artists rendering, more or less...A C8 in 2017 would be great.Mid engine would be great too...,
They are plentiful in south Florida as well, yet the dealers still sell for MSRP.
In fact is was in a Chevy dealership just a few days ago.
He had 5 in stock.
Tried to tell me what a great deal he's offering by not charging a penny over MSRP. Like this was a big sale or something.
I wonder if this is still SOP around the country, or just my area???
I would think the countdown would be on for the ""snow states" to get rid of '14's at least???? Most dealers in CA don't have any, or maybe one, but list '15's DUE....One dealer in CA bought so many from snowed in dealers back east last year that he is 49th on the list of biggest sellers of Corvettes....I can't find that list again, but he is a small dealer normally but gets the Hollywood crowd so was able to unload many for 10k over list price.....now has a few left, 2 k under list price....

Interesting! Thanks for your input.
Apparently there are huge differences in inventory, and sale price around the country.
I wonder if this article was not bitten off a prior C7 concept. This is journalism for sure.
Could very well be BS to sell magazines.. Wouldn't be the first time, Id be shocked to see GM jump to a 8th generation so soon the way the C7 is selling.
Mid engine does solve the problem on how to make the vet 4 wheel drive.
So that would be a difference of 0-60 in 3.9, to 0-60 in 2.9 instead with the same amount of power in a 4 wheel version.
G rating in the corners, pretty much double what the current corvette will do now (read race pack Gt-R has been recorded at 2.8g, so no reason not to believe that a 4w drive vet with super cups would not pull plus 2G's in the corners).
Hence, even at $150K with the above specs, would make all the older Vet's pretty much obsolete, so what is not to love about such a car.

The Pantera Mangusta was an oven on wheels with the engine sitting right behind you! The Lincoln Pantera was cheaper and not as hot.
