I'm sure you've seen Car and Driver's idea of the new (mid engine) C8 in the new issue, that doesn't surprise me, but they're saying GM is talking about 2017! That sure is cutting down the C series life cycle, no?
Now I've bought my last Vette (2012 GS Conv. fully loaded) but it sure is fun to watch.....
I just bought that issue a couple hours ago. Of course it's mockup of an idea but I'm looking forward to reading it when things settle down tonight. I can't imagine a C8 in 2017, much less a mid-engine version.
May have to keep my C6 forever then. They're getting too exotic for me I guess. In 2017, I'll turn 70 so I probably couldn't get in and out of the thing then anyway.
Maybe they realized their mistake by using left over Camaro tail lights ....
I agree 2017 sounds too soon - especially with C7 demand outstripping supply.
Maybe meant to say could have production details worked out by then - but I think would not be a good business decision to proceed.
The aricle states that engineering and design were underway prior to the Generals meltdown and was shut down when funding was pulled. Possible sale as a stand alone adjunct (Z06) in 17 with full change over in 2020 from C7. But they also talk about alternate powerplants, so who knows for sure.
Yea - will be a great way to sell magazines this month.
Looks somewhat like a rear engine Porsche fighter to me.
Maybe the way to finally drop it a turbo 6 (or dare I say a 4)?
this is their attempt (and understandably so) to turn the Corvette into a car not only more upscale but desirable by (dare I say it) a younger buyer....
Have not read the article, but thinking magazine editors have been selling issues based on for sure mid engine designs since the introduction of the C4...at least.

Here in the East C7's are common, no shortage of supply.
