About a week or so ago, our 08 C6 threw a CEL shortly after my wife got gas. We've driven it about 5 times to work, so about 10 drive cycles. I met a friend at lunch today and he used a Torque scanner on it and wasn't able to reset the code. Here's the fault error that came up:
I've read a lot about this error, and most people are having luck either replacing fuse #13 or replacing the Fuel Vent Solenoid. When I get home, I'm gonna start with the fuse, but I want to double check that it is #13 since I'm showing that as relating to the electronic suspension control (see image below). Any help is appreciated.

Thats usually a sign of a loose seal at the gas cap. Since your wife just got gas I would say its certainly that. Take it off and put it back on without putting any downward pressure on it turn till it clicks a few times.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I did that already. I'll probably swing by the local dealer and get a new cap just to rule that out too. Thanks.
Took about 15 minutes to fix including lifting the car and removing the right rear tire to make it easier to get under the car. I tried the gas cap first, since it's a cheaper and easier fix, didn't help.
Another thing - when the solenoid was bad, I could barely fill the car. I guess it failed with the vent closed, and the pump would shut off after about 20 seconds of gas every time. Very frustrating. That problem is fixed as well now.

I have been having a similar problem. The first time I refueled after I bought my 2005, the CEL came on. I came straight to this forum, dug around, and learned that I wasn't putting on the gas cap right. So I took it off and put it back on, without any pressure. No luck. Then I read that it could take a while for the CEL to go off, so I waited. I'm still waiting, since I'm pretty sure the light is related to the gas cap and not something serious in the engine itself. I've been procrastinating about taking it to a shop to have it checked.
Is the solenoid the likely culprit here? Is it just a coincidence that the light came on right after my first fill-up? Should I buy a new gas cap first?

That's exactly what I thought when it happened to us. What are the chances it happened right after she put gas in? I did find a great article in case you missed it on replacing the solenoid:

I just bought a new gas cap so I'll toss it on tonight and see if I have any luck. Car only has 14k miles. Very frustrating.
Last week my car had the check engine light come on right after I filled it with gas. I put the gas cap on and off several times and still had the light. My issue turned out to be the smart fuse I used to disable the CAGS. Put in a new smart fuse and the light went away.
Try refilling the car with gas and make sure the cap is tight. It will cycle several times before it goes out. You need to drive the car, it might take a week but it will go out. This happens on C5's also if the gas cap is put back on incorrectly. On your diagram isn't it fuse 14?

ARGH!!! P0449 is a very specific code for a very specific issue. Everyone wants to ignore that fact and guess about what might be causing a CEL. Yes, most of the time when people get a CEL after a fill-up it is a simple issue of the gas cap not being seated properly. But they also do not have code P0449. P0449 says the EVAP vent solenoid valve has been commanded to move and it didn't move. It is the EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve that isn't moving, not the EVAP Purge Solenoid Valve, not the gas cap, not a small leak, not a large leak, not a fuel tank pressure issue, not a vacuum issue, not the phase of the moon. The issue with P0449 is that one specific valve out of all of them was commanded to change position and it didn't change. It is a very unusual issue since it is a very reliable part but sometimes they do fail just as other parts sometimes fail.
There are several reason the EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve could fail to move when commanded. Maybe the solenoid has no power from fuse #13 (MMRTD) in the underhood fuse panel. Maybe the solenoid never saw the signal to move due to a wiring fault between the ECM and the solenoid. Maybe the solenoid has failed. Or maybe the valve is stuck open or closed. In the OP's case checking the fuse and replacing the solenoid valve should solve the issue but replacing the gas cap will do nothing and checking the fuse and replacing the solenoid valve will not solve everyone else's CEL issue.

Aha! I also replaced my fuse with a blown fuse to disable the CAGS, so I wonder if that is the culprit. What exactly do you mean when you say that you put in a new fuse? One that isn't blown? (I drilled out my fuse to blow it, if that matters.) Or another blown one?
Would this part be covered under the 8yr./80000 mile warranty as it part of the emission system??
Not according to the information I've read in the other threads. I just ordered the part from Gene at GM Parts House (great guy by the way). Should be here next week, so once I get it replaced I'll report back.

If it sets a fault code that in any way is related to emissions and that includes something as minor as a gas cap it would be covered if within the time or mileage.
