Default Fuel System Problem

A Corvette buddy of mine has this problem:

1. DIC says Service Fuel System
2. Check Engine light
3. Fuel Gage goes to E
4. Without warning it may start working again intermittently
5. The problem continues to occur

(He had the dealership drop the tanks and put in a new fuel pump because the plastic nipple for the tank broke and leaked fumes into the garage)

After new fuel pump and the first problem they put some GM fuel additive product that supposedly removed the "varnish" but the problem persists.

Pull the relay in the hood fuse box, and take a good look at the connects for the relay in the box.

Could be that the relay is going bad, or a bad connections for it in the fuse box instead.

If its throwing a P2068 code its the fuel sensor on the passenger side tank that is bad...they should have just replaced that when they put in a new fuel pump because now they get to go back and do it all over again.......they should have known to do that....the sensors are crap.....all the cleaner in the world won't cure it.........thanks GM!

Yup.....time to drop the passenger side tank again.....$1500! They should've done it the first time. I took my car in to a stealership after doing a lot of research on this forum. Told them it was most likely a sensor. The service manager of 15 years told me that he'd never heard of the sensors going bad. Most likely is the crossover tube he said. Ran some tests and turned out I was right. Will be tackling this job myself shortly. Oh....and the techron had no effect.

Took my 36K 2010 GS into the local Chevy garage today to get the sensors replaced......I had contacted GM thru a service rep found on another forum back when the problem first started, when the car had 25K and was just out of the 3 year warranty.......5/100K does not cover fuel systems.....imagine that.....

Anyway....GM is covering the whole thing except for a $100 deductable......so I have to give GM some credit, they did what they should have done.....thanks GM.....
