I have a 2008 4LT Coupe (Ebony/Linen) with the dreaded dash leather wrinkling (glue coming loose) issue. I went to the local Chevy dealer to order a new dash assembly and was informed that the replacement for my car had been discontinued. However, a replacement is available for the 09's and up. I was informed that the only difference between the two is one of the Air Bag Sensor mounting studs. Before I drop $2,200 on a new dash I would like to know if this is in fact the only difference. If any of you guys have any experience with this problem could you please let me know. Thank you.....
Yep, they are telling me the same line of jive. I have the same set up as you and Im being told that they cant get the part. I will have to mention to them that the 09 will fit my car.
Before you drop 2200 dollars on the junk the passes for quality at GM, GO BUY YOURSELF A REAL dash that is worthy of 4LT STATUS from DSVETTES!!! Quality is 2nd to none and puts GM OEM stuff to shame...and it probably won't cost you anymore then the garbage GM puts out there and overcharges for.

There's no reason to think that the new, expensive dash from GM will perform any better than the one you have now, so if you are planning on keeping the car, do it right with an improved dash. If you are planning on getting rid of the car, then it doesn't matter.

I found out about this issue "after" I purchased my former (hence former) 2012 Silver Ebony/Cashmere 4LT coupe. I recently traded it for a 2012 CR 1LT GS. The interior is just ebony, but when cleaned up...it rocks! And the Crystal Red...well it pops...

Well, I decided to go ahead and let them put a new dash in my 2009 model. They were able to get Chevy to foot most of the bill, and they are going to cover the rest for customer good will as part of the sale. They say that it will take about two days to install and do it right, and have one of their most experienced interior guys working on it. Will let you know how it turns out.....
As I mentioned last week, I decided to go with a new dash. The new dash arrived last Friday and I was very happy to see that it was assembled on Dec. 13, 2013 and not one that has been laying around for a couple of years. Anyways, my good friend Shane Woods pulled the old dash out over the weekend and we are now ready to install the new unit.
This is the car ready for the new dash. Shane finds it easier to remove the steering column rather than just pulling the steering wheel.
Going to install the factory Nav unit that I have from '06, waiting for an antenna.
Got mine back from the dealership yesterday. Only took one day instead of the two they thought. Fit and finish are great. No rattles or any problems. Didn't cost me a dime, and got to drive a new Cadillac while they were doing the work. Sure makes me feel better about the whole situation. Just hope that the new dash and glue they use are better than the original one. Surely they have learned something about this since 2009....
First time on the forum. Bought my 2010 Grand Sport with 4LT options, only 25K miles. 6 weeks later noticed black dash leather seems to be "shrinking", pulling back from all seams (see photo, it's ugly). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I will try not to be Mr. Negative but its going to be tough, find the biggest dealership in your area, preferably one who sells a lot of Corvette's and show it to them. It is not a warranty item. You will get great stories like mine and others with no luck. I took mine to a dealer (not the dealer I bought it from) they were aware of the issue and replaced it with a new one. It took them two days. The cheapest I found the dash was $1900.00. They actually did a customer satisfaction deal and I paid a $500.00 co pay. While some may say I shouldn't have to pay anything, I can say they didn't have to do anything. I thought of taking the windshield out and having it reglued but that has its own side effects. The company that did our dashes does many exotic cars with the same issues. I've learned it has something to do with regulations on glue, but I have seen the dashes with minimal glue across the dash. Good luck.
My dealer quoted $2,775 for a new dash, installed, and they would pay all but a $1,000. I'm trying for the deal you got. This car is otherwise very clean, only 25K miles. Thank you VERY much for your input.
