I have a 2008 4LT Coupe (Ebony/Linen) with the dreaded dash leather wrinkling (glue coming loose) issue. I went to the local Chevy dealer to order a new dash assembly and was informed that the replacement for my car had been discontinued. However, a replacement is available for the 09's and up. I was informed that the only difference between the two is one of the Air Bag Sensor mounting studs. Before I drop $2,200 on a new dash I would like to know if this is in fact the only difference. If any of you guys have any experience with this problem could you please let me know. Thank you.....
There is a lot of info on this subject on the Forum. Do a "4LT dash" search and you can read them. GM has replaced them, vendors supply /repair them and I think some people even fix them themselves. Take a look.
No experience to offer an opinion.
But did you say $2200 for a new factory dash - that wasn't even correct for your car !!!
Give your head a shake - or send all your extra cash to me.
Very frustrating, Chevrolet stepped up and only charged me $500.00 to replace my dash in my 08Z. Cheapest you will find dash is GMPARTS WAREHOUSE and ask for Gene. I would talk to the regional rep through your Chevrolet dealer. Not a warranty item and k was out of warranty AND I didn't buy the car from them... They billed the factory. Good luck, I was sick,mi e is a 5000 mile garage queen.
My 2013 had bubbles in the A-pillars that of course would disappear when near the dealer. Under certain light conditions I could see the dash cracking. Good new GM quality is pitiful.
Had my entire dash replaced (defects in the leather), trim above the windshield replaced (bubbles), trim around the halo replaced (cracks where the top pins inserted due to poor alignment). and the driver's seat base replaced (excessive play in the mechanism)..
My concern would be that the replacement pieces will do the same thing...obviously they haven't fixed the problem since these issues are happening on newer cars and not just first or second year 4LT cars. I would let an upholstery shop look at it. They may not want to remove the dash themselves but once removed, they may be able to get you a better fix than a new dash.
On my 2009 I just bought, the leather dash was coming loose from around the defroster vents and bubbling back. Dealer took it to a local auto glass/interior repair shop and they reglued it back down.....there is still a air bubble back toward the radio.... I am just wondering if or how long it will stay.....
Is this a factory defect as they are trying to tell me? Sales says Chevy would replace if I was the original owner...unfortunate for me, I am the second. They say $4300 for the new dash....and that's the only real fix....and they are not sure if they want to put that much into the repair, but it was part of the sale to "fix the dash"....
I don't see that as the "real fix" because I am not convinced that the new dash will be any better than the old one.
With the C6 you either have a dash that doesn't last long because of how it is attached or one that looks like something from an econobox. Either way you have cheap quality.

My car isn't a 4LT, but for the top of the line interior it sounds like it wasn't a good idea to cover the dash in leather. I haven't had a problem with my interior and I hate to read that these 4LT leather dashes aren't holding up like they should. Good luck to everyone who's having these issues!
Thanks to all that have responded. I have decided to go with a new factory dash. Dealer is going to sell me the unit at cost ($1,550) and a local interior shop is going to perform the install for $500. Car gets used very little (approx 2,800 miles/year) and I will protect the dash when I do take it out. Thanks again, Vinny
